Heated Mirror relay

Hey guys,
I picked up some heated mirrors yesterday and installed them. The old mirrors only used one connector, and the heated use the two connectors in the door. When I posted this in the i30 discussions and Jstutter replied saying put a relay in under the right kick panel so I went to install the relay and my car only had room for the one connector. Is there a way to wire in the second rely

If that relay was already there then it is for the Bose stereo. Look for another plug.

No, but I just put heated mirrors on my car. The wires were taped up, maybe up near the HVAC blower.

I did look in the same area in my i30 and it seems like it is the same case for me as I do not have that relay installed. However, there seems to be a taped up wire if you look up a little bit, similar to how the washer fluid indicator wire was taped up. I wasn't able to get the wire free, but it may be the wire for the relay, although I could be wrong. It is taped up a little bit up towards the glovebox if you follow those wires up towards the A-Pillar if you want to take a look.

Yes it was the correct wire thanks JSutter and others unfortunately before I checked for the connector I cut the wire and the rely side fell out, I am going to reattach it tomorrow, rookie mistake, I should have been a bit more careful but at least it can be fixed

Got them working. as I said before I was stupid and cut the relay connector off. I had to remove the ac blower and the glove box so i could reach the cut wires and splice the connector back on. I am not proud of my electrical work because there was not enough room to solder the wires so I used cheep wire nuts, but hey it works and now I have heated mirrors for the raining Pacific Northwest weather.

so are the cars prewired for the heated mirrors like they are for the washer fluid sensor? . when I grabbed replacement mirrors I got the heated ones but didnt notice any extra wiring when connecting them.
are they switched or part of the defrost circuit?

Yes there should be 2 connectors behind the door panel one grey for the mirror controls and a brown for the heated part. Then you need to stick a blue rely in the connector taped up by the Ac blower behind the glovebox.and yes the mirror defogger is controlled by the rear defogger switch once the relay is installed you will here it click when you press that button

I30 should have everything ready. Just need mirrors and relay.

Maximas need wires added to the door harness.

It's easy if you can grab the wires from a donor car. Just need to fish one wire to the main connector of the door harness and splice in a ground.

Not much to see. I added the grey connector. If you can't get the OE plug, one wire goes to the defroster wire at the kick panel. The other is a ground.

Jsutter is mostly right, GXE models need wiring, some SE models do, but all GLE models are prewired for Cold weather packaged unless specified by the customer.

.

interesting that another part of the cold weather kit "washer tank sensor" was prewired on my GXE and does give me warning now when its getting low
I think all i did there was fish the wire down and get a new tank with the sensor built in and wire it. and had to add the bulb to the warning panel on the cluster..

Do you think cars with Bose are prewired perhaps?

hmm maybe, which would make sense for Bose would be more a luxury item as the cold weather package.
