if you have a 16 or 17 maxima, have the "enhanced diagnostic logic for cvt" done per NTB16-085 ASAP! i kinda noticed something like the infamous judder/shudder (felt like old school manual transmission "lugging" to me) upon occasion so figured i'd have the cvt diagnostic logic enhanced per the above bulletin before the powertrain warranty is up soon on my 15 murano. as soon as it was done, codes p17f1 & p17f0 came up at the dealer; it seems the tcm is storing them but has no way to set off a dummy light or even display these codes to a code-reader because it doesn't know how to/cant?! its either a sub-assembly or new tranny. only have 30K on it. im in a murano now but was a long time 4th gen maxima guy and still peruse the 7th & 8th gen maxima threads to see what applies to the 2nd and 3rd gen muranos.
Sorry for the double post but I finally got to around 59,600 miles (trying to squeeze all the miles out of the OEM transmission warranty) then brought my car in for an oil change and asked about NTB16-085.
They did the update and found the code and rebuilt my CVT under warranty. Rebuilt meaning reused the case but internal parts are new..
As an FYI, the service report stated that the logic update allowed the CVT code to show up when diagnosing and then they checked the CVT and found the chain was damaged resulting in the rebuild.
It was covered so I'm fine with it, the car wasn't really feeling any different compared to the rest of the 2 years I've had it (no sluggishness or jerks). But I figured it'd be good to check and possibly get a new CVT from it. As a side note, I had done the CVT fluid at 45k before.
But hey "new" CVT and I figure, just bought the car another 60k of life at the very least haha.
Also,as an aside, my engine mounts needed replacing (already?) but that was covered by my other warranty.

Just hit the four year mark with my 2016 SV last month and am still under the 5 year/60k mile powertrain warranty . I'll have the dealer do my next oil change in January and will reference NTB16-085 (CVT judder) and NTB19-045a (improperly store DTC) when I book the appointment online.
Are there any other known TSBs for the first gen Maxima that I should ask about?

I called my local dealer, ended up speaking to the service manager...my car has 85k on it so they said it would be $139 to reprogram. Sometimes when going 30-35mph, if I coast and then hit the gas (even lightly) the car will jerk slightly as the belts grab in the CVT. Does this TSB fix an issue like that?
