$1200 for P/S high pressure hose replacement?

Does this seem like a reasonable estimate for replacing the high pressure hose, switch, and doing a flush?

I've read that replacing this hose is a PITA, but this seems high to me. Thanks.

Awfully high. Book for both hoses is 1.9 hours labor all in. You may want to check with another mechanic. This one either is planning on doing a LOT more work (perhaps on a page 2 of your estimate???) or doesn't want the work just the money.

I called them to verify that it was just the work mentioned above. I talked to another mechanic and they quoted $550 even before I told them of the other estimate. I'm going to switch mechanics for this job, unfortunately I'll still owe them some money for looking at it.

Thank you for your response. Good to hear some confirmation on the high estimate.

Easy hose to change yourself.

I would totally do it myself if I had the time. We just had our second child three weeks ago and my wife and I are dog tired. I don't have any free time to attempt it. I'm still rebuilding a steering box for my other car that I haven't had time to finish.

Understood. Mechanics gotta eat too, so it's gonna cost, just do your best to find a good one. Not sure why the first one would have priced himself out of the job like that? Crazy times.
