2010 Maxima SV starting problems
I have a 2010 Nissan Maxima SV and the battery went bad due to the car sitting (working from home).
I tried to capture as much information as I could. I am trying to find the FS Manual electrical diagram to figure out the next step.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
- BACKGROUND:
- Before changing the battery I was able to start the car by jumpstarting it. But the battery would not hold a charge so I ended up taking the battery out to change it.
- While taking the battery out the connector that connect to the positive battery terminal was damaged because the nut and bolt would not loosen. The one side of the connector connects to the Positive side Battery Terminal and the other side bolts into a small connector with 5 fusible links on it. This is the link to the part I bought from Amazon.
- When the part cam I made sure I cleaned all the terminals and replaced both the connector and battery.
- After everything was installed I tried to start my car and it would not turn over.

- HERE IS WHAT I TRIED TO DO:
- I press the brake and press the start button to start the car. It enters the "Accessory Mode" and all the dash lights turn on. It actually looks like its going to start but there are no sounds. Its as if the starter is not getting juice because there are clicks or any sign that the engine is trying to turn over. Its like the starter is not there.
- I verified that there was over 12 volts at the battery terminals and on each side of the fusible links
- When I try starting the car I do not see any drop in the voltage at the battery. I would expect to see a slight drop when the starter kicks in due to the current draw of the starter.
- I tried jumping it and it did not help . It acts exactly the same with the new battery alone or with with the new battery and jumper cables. The jumper cables are heavy duty and I verified all the connections on both sides were good.
- The steering wheel is not locked and is always free:
- I mention this because I read a bunch of posts that talk about a faulty steering wheel lock that causes the steering wheel to stay in the locked position preventing the car from starting. My steering never seems to lock which may be the symptom of some different issue?

- I believe my FOB is good because I can lock and unlock my car. (not sure why the steering is not going into a locked mode)???
- I tried to find a factory service manual that shows the electrical diagram from the ignition switch to the starter but did not have any luck.
- I also ohm'ed out the brake switches to make sure they were operational and sensed when the brake pedal was pressed.
