2010, 7th gen SV -- AV system, HDD, Music box fail
(BUMP)
Hello All,
2010, 7th gen, SV
A year and a half ago got freeze up of AV system (misc. symptoms, but typically freeze when music box or nav is accessed - otherwise looks fine). Finally got around to deal with it, running diagnostic.
Self diagnostic shows all green, but log shows maximum of errors (39 errors) in CAN category and COM category and only one HDD Read Error.
Reset log and erased user data. Upon restart could access music box and nav, but after a while froze up again.
Self diagnostic shows all green again, but log show HDD Read Error (1 error). No CAN or COM errors are logged.
Everything points towards HDD failure, but default answer is probably AV system replacement.
Questions:
1. Anyone with similar problem? If so, what was the resolution (also, is this common)?
2. Could this be a simple connector problem and not a HD problem?
3. Can the HDD be replaced without replacing the AV?
4. How much is the dealer pricing for AV replacement or HDD replacement?
5. Can the HDD be reformatted (there is a factory reset option, but also a warning that reconfiguration would be needed -- sounding like a warning... go see your dealer)?
6. Can the AV/HDD be replaced with any AV/HDD from a gen 7 from a junk yard?
7. I am guessing that the AV/HDD units are the same for 2010 Infinitys? Will they slot in if Maxima AV/HDD not available?
8. Ideas?
9. Can a (cheaper) non Nissan AV/nav solution be inserted?
Thanks,
Per
