Add Heated Steering Wheel to 2016 possible?

I did a search on this topic to see if it had been done but I’ve come up with nothing. Does anyone know if a stock wheel can easily be swapped out for a heated wheel with just the wheel and button? Or is this more involved with wire harnesses, etc?

We recently sold my wife’s car due to financial issues and she’s now driving my Maxima but she’s missing the heated wheel from her last vehicle. Thx to anyone who can assist!

It's my understanding you need the wiring as well as the heated steering wheel. From there you need to be handy pulling the wires and getting the dash-mounted switch. I'd shop the parts @ an auto wrecker 1st. The donor car needs to be a 16+ Platinum. Don't forget the fuse box breaker etc.
The heated wheel is worth it for the driving comfort in my old hands.

Would you not also be dealing with replacing the airbag assembly?

Good point Denoose, The airbag is common to both wheels. Be careful separating the connectors though.

thank you for the feedback! I’ll see what I can find and if it’s worth the effort.

I'm sure you mean remove and reinstall, not replacement. OP would have to disconnect battery, wait 10 minutes, then proceed to disconnect yellow airbag connector under steering column. Remove airbag, swap wheel and likely the clock spring, reinstall. As far as wiring harness's and switches, it would be best to pull your own car apart and see what you have, then go find a donor car in a jy , compare and then take what you need. Not an easy task by any means.

You might get lucky if you call your local parts dude at the Nissan Dealer and ask him for schematics and if there is a specific harness specifically for a heated steering wheel. He can compare your Maxima to a 16+ Platinum.

Why not save all that cost and aggravation, and buy your missus some nice driving gloves?

that’s what I told her! Lol. She does have gloves, however she has Raynaud’s syndrome that causes blood flow issues to the fingers and toes. She’ll get by for a couple more months until I can find her a new set of wheels.

Maybe I’ll give the local Nissan guys a buzz to pick their brains, but I’m guessing it’s going to the more challenging scenario posted above.

How about those heated gloves like motorcyclists wear?
