Battery terminal corrosion

(I can't believe that I'm the first to ask but searching came up with nothing... unless I'm not a good searcher.)

My 2018 Maxima keeps accumulating corrosion on the batery terminals. What is the best apporach to stopping that... anti-corroision wsahers and battery terminal "goop" or something else? If I disconnect the battery to install anti-corrosion washers I expect to need to reset the radio pre-sets... but what, if anything, else?

I don't own an 8th gen, but I imagine all you'll lose is your radio presets. There are many similar products which help prevent or slow down corrosion. Start with the goop and anti-corrosion washers as you mentioned. Clean off the corrosion with one of those battery terminal brushes. If it really bothers you, switch to a sealed battery now or when this one dies. Battery corrosion issues will be non-existent then.

I recently cleaned it with baking soda and water flush so no meaningful pictures at the moment. It wasn’t bad; a green crust on both terminals. It was surprising to me that it wasn’t an unvented battery from the factory. I haven’t had a vented car batteries for decades… so double-checking my failing memory.

Good question by the way....my fourth Maxima and I have experienced the "all damn" moment when he didn't start only to pop the hood and see the "pop rocks" around my battery terminal in each car....(Probably dated myself with the "pop rocks" reference)

Weel I just celaned up the battery connections, installed felt washers, and coated them with "goop". A 15-minute task... and was very suprised to see that the radio pre-sets survived the ordeal. That saved me another 15 minutes of re-setting my favorite stations. Yay for Nissan!

Not too far in the future, though, I'll be switching ot a sealed battery.
