Help! Battery issues

Hi. I’m hoping someone can help me think this through. Lost 1st cylinder 1week ago. Finally have the cash to get it fixed. Car will not start. Sometimes the battery cables have a loose connection, so I tightened them. When I try to start it now, I can see a few lights on dash come on but absolutely nothing else. No clicking, no move that any actual connection is taking place when I turn the key. It did get cold here overnight. Could it be the battery? It is 2 years old. Thank you for any assistance.

Batteries do not like cold weather. Time to break out a multimeter and check the voltage at the battery. Generally, you should be able to tell if your battery is strong based on how bright the interior lights and dash lights are when you put the key in the ignition.
Also, your battery connections need to be rock solid and tight, and no corrosion, otherwise you'll have starting issues.

If you have a strong battery and you don't hear the car attempt to start, it could mean a bad/frozen starter.
