Cold Start Noise from under hood just changed transmission twice. Out of Money$!$!

from a cold start there’s a noise from under the hood. I have no idea what it is. After a good minute it goes away and stops. Depends how cold it is outside. If it’s on the warmer side then it goes away quicker.

ANOTHER NOTE: My transmission went two times. I bought this 2014 Max in June. By October my transmission went. I noticed the engine bay getting extremely hot in the summer time and had a metal burning smell but the gauge wasn’t rising. After driving the car for two hours or more it would limp after two months of having it. changed the tranny and it went again. When it gets hot and is driven for long periods of time it does not do well at all. No mechanic wants to diagnose. I don’t want to pay someone thousands of dollars to figure out what the issue is either. My main issue is the noise under the hood but I’m also trying to figure out why it keeps going into limp mode. This is my third transmission and I am almost sure it’s not going to survive a summer in NYC.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
HAPPY NEW YEAR.

🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ I feel your pain.
yea. Alot of mechanics say CVT’s are horrible. I’m assuming they’re right based on my issues or maybe mine is just a lemon.

StevieNYC, I did a quick google search for engine bay getting hot. These are the results below that came up. Before I did the search, my immediate thought was that you had a slipping belt or a bad hose. I had a similar issue with my 03 Maxima and it was a bad radiator.

If your car engine bay is really hot but not overheating, there might be a few reasons1234:
  • Clogged or damaged radiator
  • Low coolant level
  • Damaged water pump or thermostat
  • Overworked engine
  • Worn-out piston rings and clogged PCV tubes or valves
  • Vacuum leak
  • Cylinder head gasket may be bad
  • Engine’s drive belts may be broken or slipping
  • There may be a leak in the cooling system
  • The electric cooling fan may not be coming on
  • The ignition timing may be set wrong
