2017 transmission replacement now randomly revs and big time fuel loss

I had my 2017 maxima transmission replaced at 105k with a reman from the shop. Ever since getting it back, first thing i noticed was I used to get around 500-520 miles per fill up and now I'm only getting 330-350 miles.

Next and the biggest issue is you can get up to 30-35mph and let off the gas as if you were slowing down and when it gets to 20-25mph it will randomly rev up about 500 rpms. I You can get up to whatever speed you want, but once it hits that 20-25mph zone, it will randomly rev up. I first noticed this when I would be approaching a stop sign or car in front of me and would apply the brake then out of nowhere it lunges the car forward slightly. Throws off your timing when applying pressure to the brakes. When you let off the gas it's like it holds a slight throttle until reaches the 20-25mph then revs up and then the rpms will drop like normal. Also feels like it has an aggressive idle/ vibration when in gear because if you put it in neutral it goes away. Any thoughts.

Thanks,

Blake

I would drive or have it towed to the shop that installed your CVT. Something is wrong, that you alone can fix.

Yeah, It was just towed there so now we wait. I'm hoping someone else might have experienced something similar and what the fix was.

Many people have had defective CVT´s, and replacement with a factory remanufactured CVT is the answer.

One of my first thoughts is the statement you made about how when it reaches low speed, it revs UP to 500 RPM. 500 or maybe a hundred more RPM is about the standard RPM expected at idle when warmed up. So, when it revs up, how low is your RPM. I assume it is significantly less than 500 RPM? Nonetheless, I'd run that transmission back into the shop because there is something definitely amiss.

So when I let off the gas, the rpm's are right at 1,000 to 1,100. It will hold that until the speed reaches that 25mph mark, then rev up to around 1,500rpm's, then they will drop to like 500ish. None of this happens if i put it in neutral before i come to a stop so that alone makes me think it's in the trans.

You are correct in your assessment that it is probably transmission related. I wonder also if they could have messed up the connections to and from your cruise control. If they are worth their salt they'll figure this out on their dime.

Are you the original owner? If not then you really didn't know whether or not the trans was abused, right?
