NS-2 vs NS-3 fluid questions

Recently went to the dealership and got a drain and fill for my transmission on a 2013 max and they put NS-3 5qts to be exact is this going to damage the transmission as it states NS-2 only and I can’t find any good answers on google and don’t know if I trust the dealership at this point as I’ve also been told by a mechanic there that the 7th gen trans doesn’t have a filter it seems to me they don’t like cvt’s and want to just have me pay big bucks out of pocket

It is better to stay with ns2 - they are not compliant. 7gen has tranny filter - you need just take of FL wheel and unscrew 2 bolts.

so why would the Nissan dealership put NS3 in my transmission. If it messes it up are they liable for damages

that is a good question for Nissan. There is a sticker on my maxima that says NS2 ONLY. BUT with your dealership maintenance crew not knowing about the filter, combined with NS3 says time spent with their GM may be required to address, what some may politely call ignorance on the part of the service department.

Some Google search mentioned “viscosity” on these NS 2&3.

if the stealership used the 3 over the 2, I would demand a flush and redo on the 2.

months down the street if you start having problems, they could pull a quick one and decline responsibility.

if they refuse then a guarantee in writing is warranted.

how about calling Nissan Hqtrs for their feedback? I would also…
