Pipe Assy Air PN 16576-9N00E Config for Cali Car

Hello Forum 7Th Gen!
I have a 2010 maxima SV and the Pipe Air assy

ON my Max, I see where this box on the front would hook up.

On my Max, This is the back side of the air assy. Im not seeing where the other piece I circle in red goes to.

Where in the heck does the piece on top of this one go to?
's small pipe had cracked. I fixed it with a new hose and some sealer, but the smog guy won't pass it because they say it has been modified with silicone sealer.
When I look online for a replacement other than the dealer, the part has an extra piece to it that isn't on my Pipe assy. I was wondering if this would be because its aftermarket or does this piece really connect somewhere and my car doesn't have it? I cant see where it would hook up. I am attaching pictures of the part I found online and the actual part I have on my car.
This is a California car. So I would think any thing that is supposed to be connected is and an extra connection that you cant find where it goes, is not for this car.

That would be your noise generator. It amplifies engine noise into the cabin. A lot of people on here have taken it off and plugged the hole in the intake with a 1 1/2 inch rubber quick cap from home depot. Doing this will quiet the cabin quite a bit. With or without it does nothing for performance of the car. The other end does not connect to anything.

Based on how the tube is connected to the big spiral body, feel back closest to the firewall but towards the bottom of the rear valve cover.

you will find a rubber grimmer where the tip of the tube plugs into.

Will take a little finessing, but with a time you can reattach the tube

i go through this every time am changing the spark plugs or lifting the rear valve cover.

hola back

Thanks guys for the reply. I think I would rather keep it intact due to the strict California emissions. When I remove the Assy Pipe, does the bottom part go off with it or do I have to get underneath the Assy pipe and remove a clamp or something?

I'm referring to the tube at the bottom in this picture.

That square box part, leave intact.

the arm in question, loosen the clamp to get better access. Once plugged up, tighten clamp

Yes. I did this earlier this year myself. There's a clamp that secures that noise generator tube to the Assy Pipe, you can see it in the pic. When you loosen the 2 large clamps on either side of the Assy Pipe and disconnect the hose that attaches to the rectangular box, the whole assembly can slide right out, then you can disconnect the noise tube. I did this to remove that noise tube and capped it as mentioned in Les7311's post. It doesn't do anything for emissions. I removed it becuase the bottom of the tube is open and allows for unfiltered air (by-passing the air box filter) into the throttle body, and that makes no sense to me.
