Is it necessary to remove the 3 bolts to the mid bearing support?

First jack the car up, and then remove the wheel. Then you need a 36mm deepwell socket to remove the large axle nut. Then remove the 3 carrier bearing bolts that support the axle.Last but not least remove the 3 bolts the hold the ball joint on, this will allow the brake and strut assembly to be moved out far enough the get the axle out.

Good Luck

10mm bolts. get a box wrench. slap the close side on it...then get a hammer and tap the wrench until the bolt loosens up. take a little finess. if you're not too confident..best left to a pro.
