To Those Who Have 2K2s on Order:

When is your 6-speed supposed to get here? I am getting annoyed with my dealer because he never calls to update me and he never returns my calls when I call to ask him about any new information. What date have your dealers given you for delivery? I figured many of you might know since its the middle of February and most of us were told early or mid february when we ordered the cars. Since my dealer wont help me out I'm looking to you all for some helpful information.

Ryan

Note: Let me know when you ordered the car.

Ordered November 23, told to anticipate late January/early February delivery (contract stipulates delivery no later than February 28). Found out (with help of Nissan Consumer Affairs) that delivery is now expected to be in April, for the reason that the dealer failed to place the order with Nissan until just a couple of weeks ago (the dealer doesn't admit to this, blaming Nissan production delays; however, the dealer's "oversight" has been verified). Bottom line: Maxima may be a cool car, but (at least some of) the dealers truly suck, in my case not even responding to the communication I sent in laying out the problem. I'm thinking now, instead of a Maxima, the M-car in my future may be a Mercury Marauder.

Ordered last week of November/first week of December (somewhere in there). I'm picking it up this Thursday. I bought in Canada and live in the US.

I am waiting for my dealer to call today. I was originally told end of Feb.

Keep you posted!

Hey Ryan,
I'm sorry to hear that your dealer has no attention to detail or follow up. I know what it's like (being in a similiar business).
If you have not bought a new car yet, please consider the Maxima!
I love my 6 Speed SE
Bought it last week; though the color was my 2nd choice, my dealer did whatever it took to get me into one today (duh!) The trick is:
a dealer hates to order a new vehicle if he already has one floor-planned. It costs him dearly. There is a $1k rebate on all in-stock Maximas as well.
Good luck!
Rob

I Just bought a 6SP Maxima on Saturday it was in stock and out the door the same day. Sorry to hear you are having trouble finding one. Speaking of which does anyone have the service Manual PDF? I want to see if I can add memory seats just buy purchasing the parts (is it pre-wired and what parts do I need)

Ordered Dec 3, now scheduled for delivery by March 15 (I'll believe it when I see it).

I think the HLSD option has caused my delay because if I didn't want that option, they could have found the car I was looking for within a few days.
My dealer is extremely poor at communication. I have had to always call him, he never returns calls, I feel like I have to interrogate him to get any information!

I’m going to drive the CL-S 6 speed (nice write-up in latest Car & Driver) since I have some time before “my” car is set to arrive. Who knows, it might just change my mind... And it comes standard with HLSD! C&D, “It bites into corners like a bulldog, and the little hints of something going on down there are simply reminders of the diff adjusting to cornering loads, steering angle, and what the driver is doing with his right foot. Honda R&D really did its homework here. This device closes the front-drive versus rear-drive gap by a bunch.

I ordered my 6-speed HLSD/Leather/Nav on November 7th.

It was originally promised for mid-January, then upped to Feb 5th, and as of today they are telling me it is in "Bay Prep" with expected delivery on 2/15.

As others have stated - I will believe it when I see it. I don't like the fact that my dealer does not communicate these status changes to me (I always have to call), and it seems they are not going to tell me anything until the exact day it comes in. Would be nice to know a few days in advance so I can set up a few other things to prepare for it.

A very annoying/frustrating experience, but I think it is mostly due to my anxiousness to get the car, and not really the dealer's fault.

They do come to those who wait. The dealers could not order till their respective order date in November. Mine arrived 29 Jan but had to wait till the second of FEB for the paperwork from Nissan (comes by mail) to catch up so they could deliver it. When it came the HLSD was not on the window sticker and I had a fit. Turns out HLSD was on invoice and got pedals so Nissan sent corrected window sticker. All told it took 5.5 months from my order.
I am now at peace and got the $1000 bonus.

When is the Acura supposed to be available with the 6 speed? Will this include the CL-S AND the TL-S? Also, Did anyone notice that the G35 will be available with a DVD navigation? That probably means that next years Maxima will have a DVD vs CD navigation. Those two cars will be pretty close to each other. I will have to test drive each. My only bone of contention with the Acura was lack of manual, now it may be woth the extra cost, expecially after hearing all of the service nightmares that all of you have had. I don't know if the G35 is worth the wait.

I was at a local Acura dealership, and the
sales manager told me that she expects
the 6 speed CLS to be here at sometime
between the end of this month and early
March. She has no pricing information
(then again maybe she didn't want to tell me),
but she was accepting orders--- and a few people have already
placed their orders (some without knowing exactly what the price will be---
I think I saw this at the Acura CL forum). Only the CLS will be available
with the 6 speed (at least for now).
Should be an interesting matchup between the 6 speed CLS and the 6 speed HLSD Max. I had been leaning towards the 6 speed CLS, but I could no longer wait for it. I drove the Max, and I liked the ride and handling (at least enough to make me forget about the CLS).

I just got a call from the sales manager who took my order, and he informed me that my car will be here by 2/22/02. I had ordered the car 8/27/01, but the sales manager actually put the order in on 12/04/01. Like everyone else who ordered the HLSD 6spd Max, I'll believe it when I actually see the car! Does anyone know if I'll be eligible for the $1000 rebate (or the 0.9% 3 year financing) if the car is actually here before the end of February?

Yes, as the rebate is from Nissan USA and has nothing to do with the dealer. They will either deduct or have it sent to you. Unfortunately it come after sales tax.
