Good price. But 245 is a bit wide for 7.5"...maybe the money you save on tires you can get the 8" rims Good find. I might pick up a set too.

I wouldn't do it. You will probably be best off with 8-8.5 if you go 18 especially with 245

Sounds a little risky to me. I thought that the correct size for 18' tires was 235/40/18. I think 245's on 18's would mess up your speedo. Correct me if I am wrong though, becuase I would like to put 245's on my future rims.

A wider tired WOULD effect the speedometer.

245/40's are more accurate then 235/40's according to the tire calculator at miata.net i think i'm gonna buy it now on these and then look around 18x7.5's are just so easy to find though SO, will they fit if i have to????

the wheel should be 8.5"

if you put a 245/40 on a 7.5" wheel, the side of the tire near the wheel will be pushed in while the top of the tire will be out. it might make the tire look square. going around hard turns will wear the tire fast around the edges. try to get a 8" or 8.5" wheel. don't forget about the offset of the wheel if you go to high it will rub. try getting something like 38 offset, stay away from 45 or more.

so can your rim guy get me a decent set of say katana's or racing harts. i haven't found much i like but don't want to spend more then like 200-250 TOPS a rim right now. money is tied up elsewhere.

steve i run 235 on 7.25 rims .. they bulge just slightly ..
personally it's better to have the tire bulge out a bit past the rim to avoid curb rash to your nice rims ..

I have 245/40 18's and my spedo is perfect. I timed it at 60 between 2 mile markers and it was 59 seconds, so it's only off by .5 or less. Yeah, i checked the miata tire size calculator before i bought the tires. 245 isn't too wide, it keeps the awesome power of the VQ to the ground.
