Question for Factory Moonroof Owners...

Can someone measure what the distance is from the edge of the windshield up to where the opening is for the moonroof? I'm gonna have one installed this week, and am trying to figure out if the stock location is good enough, or if I should tell them to shift it forward a bit. I'm only 5'3", so I sit kinda close to the wheel.

Thanks in advance!

I have a wind deflector so I cannot be precise but it's over 6 inches. If it helps, from the inside of the car the moonroof opening is 3 inches from the edge of the driver's visor (sun shield or whatever you call that thing that flips down to block the sun.) My wife is 5' 2" and the locations seems alright for her.

Thanks for the quick response guys! I'll let you all know how it turns out this week.

I really want one because last summer I was driving a Sebring Convertible...tons of fun with the top down. It was totalled in November , but the Max is its replacement .

Make sure whoever installs your sunroof is a reputable business. If the company who installs goes out of business you won't be able to find anyone to work on it(in case of a leak or troubles). I know because I work at a place that installs sunroofs. FYI

They usually run around $1000 installed. This includes all the wiring business, headliner fabrication, glass and track setup, and possible R&R of the interior.

I'm getting mine done for a bit less, cause a friend of mine had a complete leather interior installed and a new convertible top done on his '97 Celica. Plus, its February, and business is slow for these guys.

Why not just have the whole roof as a sunroof? Doesn't one of the BMW or Mercedes SUV's have something like that? I thought I saw something like that at a car show...
