How comre UR only makes one pulley and not 4?

Have you guy's ever wondered? Almost every other car seems to have a whole bunch of nice light weight pulleys but we only get "one" pulley? I know that the crank(AKA UDP) is by far the most important one to replace but I bet the other ones could be lightened or something and more power would be noticed. Any thoughts on this? I wonder if we could find a aftermarket pulley from a different car(civic, mustang etc.) in the smae diameter and replace/put them in our cars(I bet we could!)? This would work for SCharged folks too. We would probably pick up an extra 3-5 FWHP..

Ive wondered the same thing, but I think it is because it is not that simple. I mean the UDP pulley on my car was very easy to change since once the splash gaurd is off, it is very easily accessable. The other 3 are not that easy. The air conditioner is easy, but I dont think that one needs to be changed. The power steering pump is baried and the pulley is right against the wall, no way to get it off without removing the whole pump. And the alternator is the same way, need to remove it to get it off easily.

Removing the pulleys would not be a problem. Just lock up the crank pulley and then get a wrech on the(otehr) pulley and connect it to a breaker bar. Not hard

Emax, where you aint following me is that the powersteering pulley is the hardest. The clearence to get to that bolt is like 1/2". There is no way you can even put a 1/2" socket and a breaker bar. You would have to remove the pump and then use a impact wrench.

Still there is not enough room to pull off the whole pulley. I am not saying it cant be done. All I am saying is that the Power Steering pump needs to be removed for the pulley to come off. That is the only way. There is only enough room to get a open end wrench up in there, not enough room to get the pulley off.

Also, some of the accesories may require a pulley romval tool to get the pulleys off. This means removing the accesory. Not that that would be a bad thing, just another aspect to consider.

Ahh I see what you mean now. I never really thought about that one I guess I would just have to remove the whole damn thing then.

I will research on cross refrencing some aftermarket pulleys from other cars onto ours. If I can figure anything out I will let everyone know.

How many more FWHP do you guy's think I could get if I replaced all of the pulleys? 8-10 maybe?

more than 8-10. Some claim about 5-7 on the dyno. Just make sure that you dont get smaller pulleys if you end up figuring out a way to cross reference the others. This is because the Crankshaft is already smaller by 15%, no need for others to be smaller, otherwise it will hurt the charging and air conditioning system.
