That's why I made sure I got the halfway decent Bose stereo - no way could I justify spending money on an aftermarket stereo after spending $30K on a car!

I'm already thinking about changing springs, I hate that floaty feeling the car gets under braking or cornering at high speeds. Think she'd notice the change in ride? It's an SE, so it already rides kinda stiff.

At least the car flies, I'm reasonably happy with the power. I'm going to wait until the warranty runs out before I start messing with anything else.

Let me know if you do it and she does not notice...I have been "banned" from lowering my car. Period. I cannot seem to win this argument...But on the flip side speed enhancing mods seem to be no problem....at least at this point...

I'm engaged...

Gonna be married July 6th to a great girl, and she is about as understanding as they come:

She's got a 2000 VW Passat GLX (5speed and she told me early on that whatever I do to MY Max I need to do to HER Passat!

So far, I bought her 17" chrome Mille Miglias for her birthday, and most recently Eibach springs. I'm looking forward to my Maxspeeds and 18" rims! Thanx, dear!

What we should say is...

It is better to ask for forgiveness then it is to ask for permission. Sorry Honey!

So far I still have my credit card.

A Man must know his limitations

IF you have your Priorities set, and they are met, I don't see room for complaining.

..After nearly 20 years of marriage, My wife says she's concerned if I'm spending and she don't see results!!

Can't you just tell her that you want to put in aftermarket springs to correct the handling deficiencies inherent in all Maximas? It's not for looks, it's for safety!

Seriously, I don't feel safe when going around high-speed sweepers, all that pitch and yaw makes me want to chuck the stock springs and get some Eibachs.

If I buy mods, she doesn't mind because then I can't complain when she buys clothes. Mods end up costing me double

Well for me I had an account that my wife had no idea about, so I spent most of the that, still have enough for a stero upgrade which will be last y pipe is next... she is pretty cool with it, so far so she knows I'm a wheeler dealer, and I tell her I have got a lot of hookups(which is somewhat true), but she will not let me go the street races, she says if i go to jail don't call her. I figure what she has spent shopping over the years, I 'm just making up for lost time Bernie

Mine is more from a lack of money after having purchased the engagement ring..... I think I went a little far on that one.

Rims and lowering are the hardest to justify. The other thing being we're both living with our parents saving money waiting for the wedding date (June 8th) (besides I'm young) . It's sort of hard to say "Honey I love you so I spent some of our savings on some mods for my car"

I'll get a y-pipe though (warpspeed) and can probably slip rims by when I go to replace the tires. Buying some HR's is going to be tough

the only reason i got rims is because i let her drive my car and she ended up hitting a curb that caused the tire to bubble up. wasnt mad just thought "YES NOW I CAN GET MY RIMS!!!!!" then i told her the rim cracked( though it didnt) and i just had to spend the money to get them!!! felt bad but got what i wanted hehehehe

I'm sorry to hear that.... buy her some roses and a nice ankle bracelet.....present it over dinner. ask her what she would like to do for a vacation next year..etc...
then next week buy your toy(s).
if that doesn't work? I suggest irreconsilable differences with your baby

I did that (with my previous vehicle)
now i am single and with my new baby

I fit the above category that I get the wringer wneh I am caught working on something...get this, before I had rims,tires,y-pipe,intake,stereo,exhaust tip, rsb, fstb, springs, indiglos, full stereo, clears and hyperwhites...sold dang near all that when we almost got rid of the car...now since we refinanced...even though I told her I would not go crazy, it seems I have done everything I can to the car...and the only thing she got ****ed (so far) about was the moderate. speaker enclosure in the trunk

...she was heard saying "It doesn't feel like my car anymore..."

My answer was, "You were saying something, dear?"

Mine is in a similar situation. I work, she doesn't. Since I travel constantly, she was concerned about my safety in my old car and "made" me purchase the SE on Valetines day....

Since then, I've been browsing for upgrades. This envokes the "you are NOT going to put a lot of crap on THAT car!". Oh well, FSTB,RSTB,new springs and new rims/tires can only make it safer for me to drive...right?

Oh well, first bonus check in March will see what I can stir up at the 'ole home front

My wife is way to observant to slide something by her!! She watched me dump 1,000's into my 93' Cobra and then make it so tempermental that something was always breaking!! "You got the Maxima because we have the baby now, and your not going to F*** that this car up are you!!" She is pretty harsh when it comes to modding cars so I result to stashing $10 here and $20 there until I get enough to buy something (just bought Maxspeeds last week).

One more thing, the idea of buying her stuff don't work with my wife:

Gifts Last year:

02' Explorer (for baby)
Had the baby!
Saphire Ring (anniversary)
House (for us)
Stay at home mom!!

***I will say that she is only looking out for our future which if she controls I will be able to buy anything when I am 50, but if I keep spending I will be working when I am 50!!

Shes jealous man...it goes with the territory! She'd rather you spent the money on her! Thats why its important to give her a pair of shoes, once in a while, or some cash to keep her content! She naturally will be scornful towards your "other girlfriend"! I'm engaged too! Not even married yet and I know this....
