Help Me...New owner of 4th...heard rumors

Heard there were rumors that you could do stuff to your engine, without spending money on it, to make it go faster. I heard you take a cable out of a box or something and its lkocated by the driver side strut. it supposedly makes your car shift harder and makes it shift in higher RPMs. Are there any other things i can do or are these false???

Ya thats partly true.

.That will give you basically no gains though. Its just kinda cool. Use the search key upper right of page, their is detailed discusions if you have the patience to sort through the BS.

yes, the shifts are harder, but it is also the right way to make sure you'll need a rebuild much sooner.
to make it go faster without spending money:
1) remove all the interior parts you think are unnecessary (seats, headliner, insulation. that sound-deadening material weights a lot!)
2) instead of pressing on gas, stomp on it as it were a bug!

you cant make a maxima go noticeably quicer without either spending money, or ripping the insides out.

but who wants to drive a car everyday that looks like crapp inside? I guess if you go to the track everyday then you can gut out your car but its not going to make a big night and day difference.

If you really know how to drive a maxima, you will be suprised of how quick it can actually be for a family sedan!
