Clicking noise on startup?

When I turn the key but do not start the car, I hear clicking noises comming from under the hood. (you might have to open the hood or get outside the car to hear)

Is this normal? What is it?

I've had my CAI a few months now and this is when I first noticed it. I thought it was the ecu relearning or something but it happens every time.

Next time you start your car, listed...am I the only one?

That clicking noise could be your motor mounts, I heard that same noise under the hood of my max, took it to the dealership and they replaced them. I never heard the sound again.

Sounds like the relay for the starter motor. If you turn your key, but the car doesn't start, but you hear clicking, then your battery is probably dead.

I get the same thing as well. When you start it and turn it off, you hear like a clicking sound. Anybody have the same thing turning it off? If its not normal then I will take it my service dept right away.

There are relays that switch on/off to control fluid dampening to the motor mounts.

Not sure what they did to make his stop clicking, besides disconnect the relays which can't be good.

It could be the solenoid adjusting to the incrase in air. Mine went away after driving for a bit.

Possibly the idle air control valve. It's a stepping motor which clicks as it moves.

You don't.

I have a 5-speed and I was told by a Nissan tech it was the motor mounts.

it might be the motor mounts but its not the liquid filled thing they were talking about cuz on a 5 speed there not liquid filled you can even look in the fuse pannel that fuse is not plugged in
