Cleaned my MAF sensor and.....
Cleaned my MAF sensor and.....
Nothing, nada, zilch!
The screen was dirty, but the wires looked ok.
During my test drive I hit the gas on an on ramp and near redline in second the car died! I had that OH CRAP feeling in my stomach.
I coasted a ways then pushed the gas and it started to go again. The service engine light is on now from disconnecting the MAF, but hopefully it threw a code when it cut off for whatever reason.
It feels exactly the same as before, except for the cutting out under W.O.T. near redline. It only did that once, but that was enough.

did you unscrew the inlet were you connect the MAFS?
if you did you could have damaged the 3 metal prongs inside.

Hmm...why on the earth would you clean the MAF? That's probably the most delicate part on a car. If you change or clean your air filter on regular basis, MAF would never be dirty.

And I cleaned it as a last ditch hope to find the problem. I was careful not to hurt it.

the only reason i asked was b/c while installing my JWT intake i stupidly disconnected that area and in the process damaged the MAFS, after that the car would die when i would get to 2500 rpms. my broter welded the 3 prongs back to there original place and the problem was fixed. but like someone already said that is one of the most delicate areas of the care!! watch out.
Hey veetec, i cleaned my mafs as well and couldnt tell much of a difference. I also gutted my cat today. 3rd gear feels a little better, but my car feels like a dog after 100mph. So I have cleaned the air filter, tb, mafs, new plugs, new fuel filter, and gutted the car. Also I checked my ecu tonight and got 5 long, 5 short blinks, looked it up and it was nothing. So what do i do next?

I would pull all the plugs and see if any of them have carbon build-up on the white insulator part.....my number 1 cylinder did....and I replaced the plug last night...and my car HAULS @SS now! Other than that...I can't think of anything else.....have you done a compression test??

How did you clean it? I was going to use a Q-tip with tb cleaner on it to clean the 3 prongs. Do you think it is worth the risk?
