So I Got My Limited Slip Tranny, what else do i need???

Well since my dealer and 2 other independant shops whom I reasonably 'trust' have told me i need a new tranny in my 95 max (5speed) i went on a search looking for one. My local junkyard, $1250, car-part $400-$1300, ebay $122.50, yes u heard me $122.50. Am I lucky, hopefully if everything goes well i am. The next good part of the whole deal, the tranny I won on ebay was for a tranny out of a 97 i30t (73,000 miles) -, 5speed limited slip , i not only get a working tranny, but i get to add limited slip to my car as an added bonus, cool.

I have been doing a little research on this and some say i need to change both the axles, some say only the driver's side. Can anyone give me a definite answer!!! , Also is there anything else that needs to be changed in order for the tranny swap to work.

Also my local dealer, (Serafini, in Binghamton,NY) quoted me a price for the labor just to change a regular max tranny into my max for $350, tomorrow i will talk to them about putting in the i30t tranny instead of a regular maxima tranny. Anyways, is that a good price, i will also have them replace the seals one time, should i recommend them putting in special tranny fluid, (synthetic) or should would ever nissan recommends be alright.

thanks for reading my long post to whomever got this far, any responses would be greatly appreciated.

id really suggest you get the tranny looked at to make sure the bearings are good before you put it in dude. 120 bucks sounds almost too good to be true. try sticking 2 fingers into the drivers side cv output and push up and down on the bearing , it should not move at all . make sure u go to the infiniti dealer get brand new seals. also get the dust caps that sit at the end of the half shaft part that goes into the diff. coat the bearing mount on the passenger side with anti-seize actually anti-seize everything its good. if u want more pointers let me know. if u want to do it yourself ive done it twice and i can walk you through it. -pete

I have another question. On my car the date of production is 11/94, when i go to carpart, for example, and i look up transmissions for the maxima, it ask for the production range, (i.e.- thru 12/94, or from 1/95) are there any differences in the the transmission that might cause me problems putting in the tranny from a 97 i30t.
