Crank. The valvetrain typically revolves at 2x the crank speed.

RPM (revolutions per minute) is the engines revolution rate in a given gear. In otherwords the # of times the crankshaft revolves in one minute in a given gear. I am not sure that is what you are looking for, because it is rather basic, but it is a start.
