Trenz lower 2 air dams, 95-96 Maxima

I know they made a trenz grille for the 95-96 maxima, but what about the bottom 2 valances? They are both flat, unlike the 97-99, so making grilles for them should be really easy right?

Why haven't these been made, and are they ever going to be? I like my mesh grille but it's rather hard to maintain, and polished steel would looks quite a bit better.

Thanks.

i thought about trying to get Greg CustomMax to make them up but i dont think they would like right.

im happy with my mesh. I dont know what your saying about maintaining it and so on. I just wash it when i wash the car and looks like the day i put it on. It does help that i sprayed it with 6 coats of silver and 4 of clear

Ahh...the good ol days...I remember when I first got my mesh grille

Ya I sprayed mine with 7 coats of silver

What I mean by maitnence is the stupid thing is bent in a few places. The wire tires gave out (some) and now its ****-eyed (lower 1st damn).

Well wiring in those lower air damns is a b*tch and a half as you proly know, I just wanted some quality metal grillage by trenz as a neater replacement

BTW, why don't you think it would look right?

Man our Max's are starting to look like twins bro

- Go to a place that sells sheet metal

- Ask for 1/16" thick perforated stainless steel (grade 304 if possible) sheet metal

- Pick out the pattern you want (circular, honeycomb, etc...)

- Cut it to the proper dimensions

- Secure it to your car however you want

Now you have a fancy front grill that doesn't need to be painted, and won't fade over time.

Hey Machoman,

That grille looks great! What metal did you use and where did you find it? I take it you aren't experiencing any airflow problems? (it looks like there would be much blockage) And lastly, what did you use to cut it into the shapes you needed? Thanks!

I emailed him about all that and i'll post his response here if he doesn't get to it already.

Everything except the blockage...which I doubt is an issue. Maybe if you have a stock intake, or a hot air intake, but I know for my cold air intake it doesn't make a difference.

I didn't mean to sound like I didn't read his post... I'm curious to know the name and stock# for the sheet metal he got, and where. The gauge and finish certainly help from his post.

I'm probably going to go with a CAI very soon, too. Did you notice much of a performance difference, or was it just an unveiling of the Maxima growl?

Me too me too, he hasn't responded yet tho

CAI....

I came from a popcharger. When me and my friend put in the CAI, I noticed the lag from the popcharger diminished. The CAI is significantly quiter under normal driving than a popcharger. And at idle you can really hear it sucking in air. Sounds like a turbo or supercharger. But when you gun it, the CAI roars like a p!ssed off dragon!...WAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH ...much louder and much much cooler than the "bum bum bum" of a popcharger.

I, unfortunantally cannot hear my CAI anymore. After my Ypipe and catback duals I can't hear anything...when I am cruising around 40mph and I floor it I can hear the engine roar over the exhaust but the dragon sound isn't there...but the exhaust sounds too bad@ss for me to care!

If you are coming from a stock intake, you should not notice any difference in off the line power. You should notice a nice pull after tho. If you are automatic you should notice it more. Cruising around town I noticed the CAI gave me a greater pull than the popcharger.

Installation...do not install unless you have skillz. You will need a 3.25 hole saw, and a drill. No more and no less than 3.25. After you drill into the fender and take apart your stock intake, there should be a rubber circular thingy around the throttle body intake part. Take it off and tuck it into the newly drilled hole. It fits PERFECTLY and the CAI fits perfectly into it. Nice and snug, no scratching and no vibration.

Hoses...it's gonna be HARD to secure the hoses back into the CAI becuase they are too short. One of mine got loose at school and I BARELY made it home on the highway. You really gotta work at it but you can get it secure, but I would recommend to keep checking at it and get aftermarket hoses just to be safe.

Good luck

Craig
