I take it this is the full tranny rebuild with torque converter? $2000+ because you'll need it with that much power and tell them you're getting nitrous so they can calibrate it. BTW jdmmax Level 10 also does a small valve-body rebuild similar to Don's for $500 or so. But according to Level 10 this huge rebuild will make your car shift as fast as a manual = the speed of a manual.

The whole tranny is rebuilt from the ground up - and if I'm not mistaken they can even make it a tiptronic for $1000 more. Sweet eh?

talk to JimW aka Jimbrowski. He had a maxima that I believe he had a level10 rebuild on and had some problems with it. I believe he now has an audi A6 2.7T 6speed.

Nope..JimW never had Level 10 rebuild. He went with another tranny shop that was closer to him. Ron aka I30krab had the full level 10 rebuild plus additional stuff. The addition was a manual
shift kit. He could manually switch gears via a switch box. But guess what? He just lost that L10 tranny and he's not going back to them. You can ask him why.

Hmm...Did Jim have level10 internals put in but not at the leve10 shop? I do remember him having troubles with the rebuild. I have also heard horror stories about level 10.

I've heard a lot of bad things about Level 10 lately, be it mustang, supra, or clubsi guys. If I remember correctly I even think I read they might be going under soon...don't quote me on that but with what I've heard about them I wouldn't loan them 1 penny.

Where else can I get a tranny rebuild (and a manual shift mod... yummy)

The Tranny rebuild was something like 3000+ the Torque converter is sold separately... You can either rebuild the one you have which is some like $498.. Or BUY a new TC which is lighter and stronger than the stock TC for $698.. Just for all yall info... For the cats that live in NYC like me.. If you want a tranny from Nissan the price goes something like this... So decide which is better for you
Nissan: 2800+400 core charge... then about $500 for labor IF they don'y run into any problems..

Ohh by the way the only thing Level 10 reuses is the Core... everything else is gutted...

Okay,
Here's some questions.
1. Does the new torque converter have a different stall speed and if so, what is it?
2. Will the new torque converter still have the lockup feature?
3. Somebody on the thread stated that the manual valve body was controlled by a box. Does that mean that shifting is now done electronically (I.E. with servos)?
4. How do the stock halfshafts and C.V. joints hold up to increased stress due to harder shifts.

I'm not trying to cause drama, I'm just used to working on old muscle cars and I'm curious how technology has changed/advanced with the import crowd doing things different. Who knows, maybe i'll jump ship and get really serious about modding the Max.

Okay let me try and answer some of the questions...
1: No it does not have a different stall speed... It is just stronger parts in which it locks up better and it does illiminate the luxury feel.. but then again if you talk to anybody here most guys and girls rip up there tranny if they don't do some sort of tranny or value body modification....like you said you work on muscle cars so you know this..

2:answered in 1...
3:I have an automatic so I can't definately say...about the manual...
4: I think this is the most important part okay I don't think the shafts will be effected... and as for the CV boots and joints...Just without any tranny upgrade I would try and get polyurthene joints CAUSE if you drive hard... MAN!! you're gonna need it...

Oops. Consumer reports just listed this version of the A6 as "one to avoid". Apparently reliability is very poor. He'll be wishing he had his Maxima back!
