Rotors shot..what should I have them replaced with? Help!

After 44K my rotors are in need of replacement...I could probably go a bit longer but evry now and then the steering wheel damn near feels like it is going to jump out of my hand.

Had the cut and pads replaced at 26k and had them recut again at 36k so I doubt I could get one more cut out of them.

Should I just get Nissan to replace all 4 rotors at the dealer?

My options are limited as A) I wouldn't have the foggiest on how to replace rotors myself nor do I have the time or energy to learn to do so(at least not now) After 4 hours in a car a day the last thing I want to do is work on the damn thing.

B) Like I said above, I am all thumbs when it comes to this stuff. I'll need to have someone else do it.

Should I just have Nissan do it or should I find a local garage that will do it?

What brands should I ask the local mechanic about on what rotors he will use? I don't need performance parts as the Max is pretty much just a commuter car for me now.(200 miles a day)

I want to know some names so he just doesnt use Joe's rotors if you know what I mean.......

The only good thing about getting the dealer to do it is that if they start to suck again 6k I have some fallback...maybe not much but some.

Did you have the brakes serviced under the Brake TSB? (look in the stickies)
If your dealer cared like the one I used, they would've replaced the rotors with new ones. I had bad brake judder by 15000 miles and the dealer said it was so bad they replaced the rotors instead of turning them.

the dealer did the work under the TSB...I found out the 2nd time that they were cut that they took them off the car which is against what the TSB says to do...sigh...

but thats water under the bridge right now...can't take back what has been done, gotta move forward....

So.....

Any recommends on what I should do as far as rotor replacement?

ummm

Audi brakes? oh, you'll need the A6 to go with them.

Do you need all four? if so, the full brake kit is still on sale at

http://www.eatricezone.com/

yeah, alot of cash just to fix the problem, but stock rotors and pads will end up running you at least 400+, why not spend alittle more and get something less prone to warp in the first place.

thats what I intend to do if mine warp after 36K. I mean, there's no guarantee they wont warp again in 5K! (stock)

my lugs are just alittle more snug than hand tight. literally, 90ft-lbs. so far, thats kept them from warping.

true, true.....

Ya know, I never even thought about the back rotors! I guess I was so focused on the steering wheel acting like a can of angry bees that I never paid attention to the rear ones...actually they may be a little warped....sometimes I can feel vibes coming up through the seat....back rotors perhaps?

If I knew how to install brakes I probably would go for the kit on sale but I'd have to buy that and then have to find someone willing to put them on for me....

As a newlywed I don't have that kind of cake that I used to j/k well not really

I might have a different Nissan dealer do it(if I go that way) and stress about the previous warpage I had (oh sure pal we'll take care of ya)

hmmm what to do

actually..

they are still a do-it-yourself item. the calipers swing up.

I think russ did a write up on pads on his 5thgen site. I understand the rotors are easy to swap once you've swung the calipers up.

anyone?

Jim,

I'm considering using the Raybestos rotors instead of OEM rotors. Mine are shot at 41k and will be replaced within a week or two. I'll post what I do when I finally get it done.
