I keep hearing about this new car coming out in a few years from every one in this post but I don't hear one thing about how much it will cost. For something like this it has to be at least $35,000 right? What times should be expected? How much extra weight?
I also hear about how this car will not be in manual transmission. Isn't the Pathfinder in a manual? If it is, why can't the 3.5 also be in a manual.

Are you sure your not thinking of the 2003 rumors, the 2003 is supposed to be a full size sedan like a Avolon so it should be base price around 26-29K and loaded around 32-35K, now if your talking about the 2002 the only rumor with that is the 3.5 VQ with a 250+HP the price will not be much higher on the 2002,My guess is if it is standerd on all the Maxima's the price should not rise more then a $1K but if it is a option and say it is only available on a SE-R {example} then the SE-R would be more expensive so maybe 27K-30K.Again these are still just strong rumors and no one no's for shure at this point.

What times should be expected?

For a 2002 equiped with a 3.5 with say 260 HP would probably do 0-60 in 5.8-6.3 and 1/4 in 14.6-14.8 with a trapspeed of 96-99MPH.Again these are just educated guesses.
How much extra weight?

Most likely no extra wait due to the fact the 3.5 is just a bored out 3.0 so it may way less.

I also hear about how this car will not be in manual transmission. Isn't the Pathfinder in a manual? If it is, why can't the 3.5 also be in a manual.

The argument hear is the Pathfinder is real wheel drive which makes a manual tranny much easier to work properly and to make. Also people think that there will be no manual in it beacause no other Manufacture has a 5 Speed on a front wheel drive car do to several factors which I am not sure of exactly.I personaly feel very strongly that the 3.5 Max will have a 5-speed in it,they should be able to adapt the curent manual tranny with the new 3.5 with some modifications.Remember everything I just send are still rumors a speculations, only time will tell I would say by April we should have definate information on this subject.Later

No, it's just a rumor. Nissan has not said anything about a 3.5L replacement, not a thing. The only thing we know for sure is that the next major revision of the maxima is going to be bigger and more luxury oriented, which is why I probably won't be buying another maxima in the future. The altima is going to move up to fill the spot where the maxima sits now.

I'm just waiting on the Z

From Nissan Public Relations:

The Maxima will undergo a minor facelift for the 2002 model year and will go on sale in the fall of 2001. Details of the changes will be revealed closer to its introduction date [2001 NY Auto Show].

Whoa! X 3. Wait to get some solid info, on a car that will probably max out @ $30K. Nissan cannot afford to lose a loyal customer base.

i can't afford 35k maxima. I better keep my old 98 maxima for a while. I really like Maxima's name better than Altima.
