Bose Factory System....

Damn, doesn't the Bose factory system sound like you have something n your trunk. Anyway, how should the treble and bass be set to get the best sound out of our Bose speakers? Also, what are the speaker sizes that is in my Max? Thanks.

Speaker sizes are 6.75" or another name for them is 6.5S (6.5" oversized)

To really get the best out of your BOSE system, leave the tone controls flat, at 12 O'clock. Then, if you music needs a little bass, or treble, add just a bit from there.

Oh yeah, and don't determine the quality of your system by a radio broadcast, play a good CD and see how that sounds.

Bose definitely needs a midrange adjuster

i seem to get the best sound by turning the treble up, bass in mid position (or less if necessary) and a slight fade adjustment to the rear. the biggest problem i've had with the Bose is that my right rear speaker cuts in and out and i cannot seem to be able to get it fixed.

Generally I keep the bass and treble flat. If it's a CD with a lot of bass and I'm in that mood I'll turn the bass up about half way. Also if I have the windows and sunroof wide open I turn the treble up a little because the wind tends to drown out the treble and leaves too much bass.

the bose is my 97 max has more base than that from my moms 95 max's bose...but then again, the driver door speaker on the 95 blew out so i have to fade it to the rear alot...one thing tho, i thought that u cant switch the headunits, cuz each BOSE headunit is specifically computerized to work with that car only, so that thieves cant steal it and make use of it...is this true, or just sum1 tryin to make me not worry?

You can interchange most Bose HUs from the 95-99. The 99s were the best looking. As for your bass comparison between the 95 and the 97, I would think that they are exactly the same. The blown speaker must be the change you're experiencing. The Bose system produces it's best bass when all four speakers are at the same level, i.e. balance and fade all set to 12 oclock.

Oh, and there's no computerized security at all.
