cut the springs to lower?

i was wondering if anyone has just cut their springs to lower their max - i have a 95 and i was wondering how bad the ride would be and if the stock shocks would hold up? i was thinking of lowering 2.5 - 3 inches buy cutting them -

Dont do it, buy sprints or h& r's , the ride will be horrible w/cut springs, and its also dangerous and really bad for the alignment(tires ect) and the car, and its ghetto

He's right. Cutting your stock springs 1 to 2 coils is okay, but to get 2.5 to 3 inches, you'll have to cut them in half at least. I wouldn't recommend it because you'll run the risk of breaking the springs. To get that low, invest in some coilovers. You'll gt the same ride with those though but at least you'll remain safe.

I cut my intrax springs and other members have cut rear sprints, suspension techniques and eibachs I would not do my stock springs. The spring rate is different on your stock spring keep that in mind. maybe one and half coil, Id just pay what $120 and get some sprints and replace the shocks while you are at it.

What happens if you heat the coils? Has anyone heated their coils?

Not totally true. It will only bottom out if you don't have enough suspension travel. Shorter springs won't be the cause. If you invest in bumpstops or shortened struts, you can eliminate that problem. It will, however, make the ride bad.
