A stock s4, yes a supercharged 4th gen can handle one. Slowest I'd expect out of a stock SC pulley auto is probably 14.4 @ 98 mph, the quickest for an SC 5 speed would be probably 13.5 @ 102. Audi S4s trap at 98-100mph stock. So it would be right there with one, if not running it down.

then bend over and assume the position. if its an auto max, forget it. a five speed with some "work" may hang, but

I will have to also agree on that one. My suggestion is, if you plan on taking one on, go ahead and carry a tube of KY jelly in the glove box, becuase you don't know if the guy in the S4 will be kind enough to carry his own..........

Upgrade the chip and you're easily looking at another 50+ HP at the wheels... Not bad for $600 more

There are some performace kits that get them up into the 400HP range very easy. Those things get pretty bad.

Aren't Audis heavy? I thought they were like 3700 lbs. That weight and 250 horses would get smoked by 3000+- lbs and 250+- hp.

yeah they are heavy, but some of that is do to AWD, which helps the S4 get a much better launch. It won't get smoked either way, I think a SC 4th gen 5sp could beat a stock S4.

But then again, how many people buy the S4 and don't at least do something to it? I've got a friend with an S4 and all he has is a chip and full exhaust, that thing is FAST!! Add AWD, and great handling, this is an awesome all-around car.

it's amazing the tuning potential that comes out of a car like this. too bad you can't add a chip and get 50+ out of a maxima.

New - $42,000 nicely loaded
250HP
5.4 sec 0-60
420HP kit

My buddy has an S4 6sp with chip, exhaust (scorpion?), and air filter and that car has beat a high 12s civic by MANY car lengths. This civic is hollowed out - only a driver's seat - and my buddy's S4 is FULLY loaded (read:heavy). He's probably pushing close to 330HP. That car pulls in 4th gear like ours does in 1st. BOW DOWN TO S4's. *gargle* I'm waiting for the new V8 S4

I have driven 2002 S4 Audi, and I can say that it will eat any Maxima alive, even the 2002 6 speed Maximas. When I dropped the clutch in that car at 3K rpm, I lunched like a rocket.

Bye bye max

S4 too fast. Max not up to par with it. Test driven one on a toll road, blew by Corvette, then had to lift at 120.

S4 isn't actually that impressive in stock form...it's a low 14s car if the owner is willing to dump the clutch at a relatively high RPM.

Now if that Vette was racing you...you would have gotten your a$$ handed to you....

I was running at the track last fall with my bolt-on 5-speed with a 50-shot...I ran 14.0...and an S4 with BBS wheels ran 14.2-14.4s...not exactly that impressive.

Well, my friend, I like hearing that kind of stuff about the Max, it just makes me feel happier that I have one . But, the **** S4 can really handle. Certainly I'm comparing apples and oranges here against the vette, max, and s4. but generally speaking, you have to admit that it is a biatch of a car (then maybe you don't have to agree , you're entitled to your own opinion). having all that extra weight on the s4 due to it's luxury market (full size spare, curb weight 3593 for manual) and it does perform. .2 seconds is a lot, if you are racing in F1, but normal street, it's barely noticable. I'm sure that guy in the vette has seen a lot of people try to beat him and was just letting me by to aviod any scuffle.

First off, we don't have boost. The chips in the S4 usually increase the boost on the two turbos and add the appropriate fuel and maybe change the timing.

Secondly, the S4 has a decent size aftermarket. I mean look how many different companies make aftermarket parts for it.

He's 100% right. I drove a stock S4 before and it's fast, but not outrageously fast. Still WAY better than our cars above 80MPH, but not outrageous. Then you drop ~$2500 (not sure of the exact price) on that exhaust, a chip and an air filter and all of a sudden you can hang with Corvette Z06's. If you ask me, that bi-turbo setup they have in that car is PERFECT

I run mid 14's with simple 3500 rpm launches, in a over 4000lb car. I don't have the nerve to try any harder, just don't want to abuse the car that badly.

Stock 6spd S4's run 14.0-13.9 stock. The best I've witnessed was a 13.97 @ 100.xxx

The real pull of the Bi-turbo V6 is at highway speeds. The gearing and the torque curve (or lack of one) makes the car pull at high speeds way stronger than the advertised HP/TQ numbers indicate.
Also, it's a safe bet that the actual HP output is closer to 270 ish. Basic HP calculators show 273 for my car.
