(1997 max fog light.)
I was talking to Freddie at audio links and told that there was a way to push the reflecter back inside the fog light to allow an HID bulb to fit. I try pushing them back but nothing happened. I have a extra fog light that I have been experimenting on, but no luck. I know a couple of you guys have HID in the fogs Holla back. How you did it. I don't want to take it out completly that it will be blinding to oncoming.

I did it without removing the reflector but it was a lot of work. I had to mount the plug for the bulb into the plastic cap on the back of the fog lamp assy. So the refletor is still in place and I'm still blinding people so I had to make eyebrows with tape, Check out the pic.

I'd imagine four HIDs up front (assuming your headlights are HIDs too) would be insanely blinding unless pointed directly at the ground. Two HIDs that are aimed wrong can easily send oncoming traffic flying off the road, I'd hate to see what four can do

 

Eyebrows on the headlamps and aiming them down and same thing on the fogs so I don't blind anybody.

 

problem on 9004 housings is that the lamps were not the best designs to control light...even if you "eyebrow" the top, guess what ? most of the glare comes from the bottom of the housing

As for HID fogs, I've done the 4th gen conversion no problem, along w/ my 5th gen.

I securely fit an H7 bulb in the stock foglight housing without a problem. However, if you wanted to be cheap, couldn't you tap into the wiring that runs from the HID system to your current HID 9004s and run that to some HID bulbs in the foglights? I know that the fogs would only be on with the 9004s, but would this work?

LoL...I would love to see someone try that and fry their entire electrical system. Do you realize how much power comes out of the ballast to the HID burner ?
Do a search and find out.

BTW why would you put in a H7 into a H3 housing ? is there some honest logic behind it ? I'm not trying to flame, I'm curious on why ?

Freddie how the heck do you push the reflecter part in side the fog light backwards. I tried it the way you said, but it didn't move. I also tried the way mamimus75 said by drilling out the back cap a while ago, but the HID bulb sat to far to the back and projected the light over the reflect itself.I tryed puting alluminum foil in the gap between the HID and the reflecter, but I didnt like how it looked on the car. There is a way to push this reflecter backwards but I just can't do it correctly. Some one who did this please holla. The HID bulb itself is to long and hits the back of the reflecter.

My philips kit has a shorter capsule design so it fit in the housing no problem. The OSRAM kit on my Pathfinder as well has a short capsule design. Don't know about the Hanabi

holy crap where the heck did this thread get bumped up from? lol since i last posted i got married, had a kid, and bought a pathfinder and a cr-v, alas my max has long been sold off.. i want to get a new maxima but they are so much more expensive than when i bought my 98 and they're probobly going to change the body again pretty soon...looking hard at that new accord coupe...maybe get something a tad more sporty before i have another kid and buy a town and country....

 

holy helz belz .... this is an OLD thread. there are newer more recent threads on here ya know. as far as fogs go, look into some of the round style and make a mount to fill the OEM fog light hole.

Ahhhh .... I think you might have a wheel problem. LOL That is a good trick, did you have to cut the strut in two to get that to happen?

 

so i figured out...the optimal solution is to get the H3C bulb? am i wrong? its basically a h3 they make for prejectors...its just shorter.....
