Mounting Subs

Hey all,
I have two JLW0's in a sealed box. I was going to mount them facing forward toward the driver with my rear seat down most of the time. I was told though, that I should have the box/speakers facing toward the rear of the car for best sound. I don't understand this. Any help would be apprreciated.

A co-worker of mine has put in his own sound system and is an engineer says that most of the time it sounds better to point the subs towards the front of the car. I don't understand why, unless you put down the back seats that is. If anyone can explain it would be much appreciated.

Firing toward the rear vs the front. Ive talked on this a few times but here goes again.

Firing toward the rear(trunk lid) usally makes it louder by about 3db or to the human ear double as loud. The problem is it tends to make the bass boomy.

Firing it toward the cabin usally is not as loud though sounds tonally bettter and more punchy. Really there is no reason to fold the seat down.
