Here is something that I have noticed: Yesterday was pouring and it rained through the evening. I left the car parked outside and I started my car this morning and heard this high squeal sound coming from the secondary belts (to the left of the engine if standing in front of the car and looking into the engine compartment. It was squaling for a few minutes and then it disappeared, I was curious if this is because of the moisture from yesterday's rain or if soemthing is loose? I don't think it would be something is loose (or at least hope not) because I have not heard this squeal from the belts before, even on colder days.

has anyone had this before or know what it could be? my car only has 31K on it--so I hope it isn't falling apart yet.

thanks.

=)

I have the same problem. Brought it to my mechanic several weeks ago. He checked the belts, everything was fine. Sometimes you can hear this squeal when or after it rains, but it goes away.
Relax, yer car is not falling apart, well I hope so

check the tension..it maybe slightly loose. tighten it up and the squeek should go away. maybe it's time for new belts if they are worn.

sudden start

I have a question about the symptom, it has never happend before--but it just started. If the tension is loose over time, does the squeal suddenly become apparent and noticeable one day-- or is it gradual over time?
The thing about the tension is that I just checked it about 2k ago and it seemed fine...
hmmm...I am hoping that it is just the moisture.

Do these secondary belts need to be change (supposedly) before 100K?
Or are they supposed to last a good amount of time?

I had this same problem before and it went away.

It rained just last night. This morning when I started the car, the squeek was there.

It's moisture. Ckeck belts regularly anyways.
