My MAX stalled this morning, again, as soon as I stopped at a STOP sign, and didn't start quickly too
, but when the car warmed up, it seemed fine. MIL light didn't come on.
This problem started a few days ago for the first time. About three weeks ago I replaced Knock Sensor and PCV valve, cleaned Throttle Body (MAF sensor was clean). I USED search function..., maybe someone has some new info/update in order to solve this problem
Don't let your bro down
,
Thanks guys, I appreciate it.

Idle Air Control Valve - Might be lazy, you can clean it out just like the throttle body. You have to remove it and disassemble it.
Idle speed adjustment? Check the default settings. Without the TPS connected you should idle at around 700. If your way to low, the IACV is working overtime to keep your car idleing correctly, combine that with the face that it may be lazy, and there's your stalling issue.

could be another case of the Coolant Temp. Sensor. Search for it and check up on it. I had a good post about it 7 months ago or so. My car had sort of similar probs.

I have a 95gxe and had the same problem, my max would just shut off with out notice and start back after a few tries(embarrassing at stop lights), get the coolant temp sensor replaced, the part only cost about $40.00(about the same size as a spark plug) and can be done within a 1/2 hour. I got mine replaced, no more problems.
hope it helps.

Another thing I noticed today, when car was warming up in the morning, fans would turn on and off for a few seconds

my max did this also each time I started it. Replacing the coolant temp sensor will fix all this.

did any of you guys have a hard time starting from a cold start. Meaning the engine would just turn and turn but no start. Someone said it could be a camshaft position sensor problem.
I had this problem in the past in which the car wouldn't start on certain occassions like described above. And then other times I would come to a stop and watch my idle go lower and lower, the car would shake like it was going into rough mode and then finally stall.
Your right though, it is embarrassing when ur car won't start up for after a couple minutes. And your stuck there. Especially in rush hour.

UPDATE!!!
Replaced coolant temperature sensor - $28 total
Took my Max for a test-drive and it didn't stall
Checked fans, they didn't turn on while car was warming up. When car warmed up, both were spinning.
Well, will see what happens, I hope replacing coolant temp. sensor solved this stalling problem. If Max will stall again I'll let you know.
What do you think guys, should I reset ECU just in case?
Thank you all for your replies!

I paid $40.00+ for mine as well, whatever, as long as the max is running smooth and I don't have the headache of the problem reoccuring I am satisfied.

did you guys put them in yourselves? if so, was it easy? i'm going to attempt to do it this weekend and it doesn't look like a complex part...so hopefully it's fairly easy. thanx for any suggestions
I'm having the same problem too. I was at a light on sunrise highway today checking out this cute chick next to me in an eclipse and my car just stalled! I was soooooo embarassed! It started up after the second try. It kept stalling on me the whole way home. That is one of the worst feelings in the world. I'll replace the sensor and let everyone know if it worked. I really hope it works. Thanks everybody.

Idle Air Control Valve - Might be lazy, you can clean it out just like the throttle body. You have to remove it and disassemble it.
Idle speed adjustment? Check the default settings. Without the TPS connected you should idle at around 700. If your way to low, the IACV is working overtime to keep your car idleing correctly, combine that with the face that it may be lazy, and there's your stalling issue.[B]
