Well today I slept woke up and jacked the car up broke a 14mm deep socket but got one end of the Ypipe off and got the flash light and looked in, I was not surprised to see the flex was shot!!!!!the same thing that the other guys post a pic of a opening the size of a nickel. Now me, myself and I will have to get bitten by the Mosquitoes outside and remove and ship out ASAP!!!Well Cattman said he would fix it but after it gets fixed I dont know if I want to put it back on!!!, well the stock should add a couple of Ponies back on my car, I have to go to the track and see how it performs with a bigger opening!

You could always get it repaired, sell it, and then get a Warpspeed. So what do you think you will be running with a fully functional y pipe?

Went on a test drive took me 1 hour and half to swap them out!! the engine just feels so much smoother. I also checked the BOV, no air coming out of it. The Ypipe was restricting air from coming out smoothly so the BOV was letting air out all that time. Just happens that I am on the highway and I see the 3rd gen Max speeding and he tries to races me, not to mess with him but I just had to beat him 3 times, I then get off the exit and make a Uturn to check and see if I can still hit 10PSI and I still do. The car just feels so much smoother now then before. , Ill fedex this pipe to Brian Catts tomorrow he can fix it since is his Pipe.

Good to hear. After the ypipe fix, you should go to the track one more time to see if you can improve.

Btw, I need your help shipping out a package. It's kind of big. It's not the fenders though.

Ill call you as soon as Brian Catts emails me back with the response to ship this Ypipe out to him and Ill let you know if we are going to Fedex or UPS. I like FEDEX personally.

If I go to the track Ill just do 3 runs. The car runs very smooth, but that Ypipe helps out.

Just what I suspected....go to the track..and you should EASILY trap over 100mph...even with the stock y-pipe..

With the busted flex did you notice that the revs were not as fast? how about noise? Im going to check out my flex soon but I dont think I have a problem since the car revs as fast as the day it was installed but I dont know if theres any power loss since I dont push the car hard much and never dynoed or have timeslips to tell.

Btw, I'm guessing only Cattman y-pipes have this flex section problem? I have the WSP y-pipe(the old one, first one that came out), shouldn't have any problem with that right? The only I know of the WSP y-pipe so far is the bees in the can if I don't put header wrap around the flex section(which I did). Other than that, I don't know.

I dont know what my times will be kLOWNPR019, but I am not going no time soon.
To answer the other question Nismo, yes the engine is sounds and feels very smooth but revs slower with out the cattman Ypipe and is pretty quiet. I do have the Greddy exhaust as well, not loud at all, I dont know why people post BS the Greddy exhaust Drones or what ever. My exhaust is no louder then the Apexi exhaust and thats a nice exhaust becuase Cumalot has one on his car. Dont get me wrong when installed the Ypipe last February the car was quick. I never took it to the track but one day I never heard the exhaust because the car all of a sudden got quiet. That also explains why I ran a 15.9 and Nismo2020 is running 15.2 etc... and also here is DaveB running 14's no supercharger and guys are like whats wrong with your car? Can someone tell me how much time will drop with a Ypipe full greddy exhaust and just intake?, no supercharger!!!

Anyway to tell if the flex section on my WSP y-pipe is blown too? Can you tell by just looking at the outside?

Sprint you are right on that one the motor is all loud and rough, now is nice and quiet and smooth, Mike if you remove those 14 MM bolts with a flashlight you will see your opening and tell if your Ypipe flex is shot as well. I just spoke to Matt becuase I am pist off, but seems to me like all Ypipes seem to have this problem. So I guess Ill just keep it, I was going to sell it but for what I am about to pay $100 to get if fixed not unless Brian Catts will gives me a break.

WOW, you too?

Guess I should check my Y-pipe... again! I'm starting to hate the Y-pipe.

Mine was a huge loss at all rpms, especially above 2K rpms. It was louder as well. Kind of like a clogged cat, since it is a very similar symptom.

So when you look in will it be very obvious the flex section is in the way? Is it jsut a piece of metal you see hanging down? I have a warpspeed but might be worth checking some time.

You guys mentioned your engine being much smoother now. Is rough acceleration an indicator that I need to redo my exhaust? I know it's not in top shape because it makes my engine sound like a big block Chevy. How badly will a shot exhaust change my performance? Lately, it's been getting tougher and tougher to roast the tires, like I've got no throttle response. After the car gets up to about 25-30, however, it feels like I've got a turbo....It just kicks in all of the sudden. What do you think?

when you loosen those 14MM nuts look into the Ypipe with a flash light into the rear of the Ypipe, youll see the flex part the weaved part in there and if your opening looks like the size of a nickel, it needs to get replaced.

You cant tell from the outside, it looks perfectly normal from the outside. Like new!!!

this applies only to "lined flex section" ypipes such as cattman's right? just double checking since my budget ypipe has been on for almost a year.

I have to check out my 1st gen WSP ypipe too. I don't know if there's anything wrong with it, but better to know than keep guessing right?

No its just cattman Y pipes, you may want to check yours after a year or so. My car use to be loud and now is quiet. With the Stock Y pipe the noise is back a bit once again. Nismo2020 didnt have a cattman and he paid for his flex to get replaced!!
