How did you reinstall your needles?
How did you reinstall your needles?
For those of you who have done the indiglo needle kit installation, could you tell me how you reinstalled your needles? The needles were off, and I marked off the "calibration point" which is the point where you get a bit of resistance rotating the needles counter clockwise but can anyone tell me the proper way to reinstall and calibrate them?
TIA!
Chris

You put them on the same way you took them off. I would suggest that you try to allow yourself some room when doing this because you can push the needles to low on the spindle. Thats how you make your needles stick.
Just keep twisting till you get to the desired height, then stop twisting when your needle is at the calibration point. Then you rotate the needle clockwise to about 1-2k rpms and put the needle rest back on. After the needles rest is popped in, gently push the needle (it should spring down to the needle rest) to the rest position on the needle rest. You can check your gauges a few different ways.
1. GPS, most garmin GPS's will give you a speed.
2. Set your cruise control to 60mph and time yourself to go 1 mile, it should only take you 60 sec.
3. If you ask a patrol man (cop) to clock your speed, (most of them will if they are not busy) with out a ticket.
4. Dyno
My experience with doing guage work (14 cars) has been that the calibration point is pretty good to be within +/- 1-2 mph.
Good luck.

Ok, I have a similar problem... I have a 2000 GXE (black cluster) so I bought a 2001 SE cluster (Silver one) from someone but it was a bit faulty, so what I decided to do was just replace the panels (MPH, RPM, Gas, and Temp.). When I did this I f.ucked up all the needles and now I am stuck... I also f.ucked the needles on my old cluster so I feel like I'm totally f.ucked... Can someone help recalibrate the needles... My plugged it in and my RPM needle doesn't move like it should, its like it gets stuck, and the same goes with all other needles.
^^you're f.ucked.
You can always eye ball them.
fill up your tank, then press the needle just above full. let the car warm up (idle for 15 minutes) press the needle on in the middle someplace.
just dont press them on permanently until you like the calibration.
