Need help: Got ticket for turning right on red, but........

i got a ticket for failing to stop while
making a right turn on a red light. to be
honest i did one of those quick stop and
thus the cop felt that it wasn't good enough.
anyway, i drove by there today and realized
that there was a separate lane to get onto before
making the right turn. and there was even a
yield sign for that turn. now does yield mean
that i don't necessarily have to stop if there
was no car coming? could i win the case base on
that yield sign?

if you go to court, pleade no low contingency... pay the fine but get no points towards your license.. thats what I did for the same ticket as yours.

A yield sign means you don't have to stop IMHO. Check your local codes for specific information(as you will need it for your court date anyway) Yield means you have to slow down or stop for people or other cars(that have the right of way).

I think you can win if you do it right.

can you do that for any ticket or just for minor things(ie- illegal turns, lane changes, etc.)??

nolo contendere

NOLO CONTENDERE - No contest-has the same effect as a plea of guilty, as far as the criminal sentence is concerned, but may not be considered as an admission of guilt for any other purpose.

Whether you get points or increased insurance depends on your local laws. Check! It is irresponsible to say what 00Semaxi said as a blanket statement across the U.S.

ooo sorry my statement was "irresponsible"... I went to court 2 days ago that that is what I pled. I thought it would be something offered all over the U.S. maybe I was wrong. but it was my advise.

oh and you can only plea this for minor traffic violations. i.e. failure to stop at red light.
