Re: Which Lights Were Carbon Fiber

Are you talking about the smoked tail-lights of the 2000 - 2001 SE?

I don't think Maxima's ever came with CF taillights. The closest it's been is the SE Smoked taillights.

It would be nice to get hold of some CF taillights.

I know, I'm still undecided on keeping my 2k2s or going smoked, hmmmmmm

I'm waiting for my '02 Maxima to come in. Should be next week Friday. Anyway, the first thing I bought was taillights from a '00-'01 SE. Yes, they are the smoked ones and when seen up close it does look like carbon fiber. Unlike most people, I prefer the smoked ones. Guess I'm a little weird. I bought them from Courtesy Nissan for about $98ea.

When I originally read this post, I thought melteye was insane for thinking that the smoked tails were carbon... But I looked at mine and in the sun, they TOTALLY look like CF. I can't believe I never noticed that before. Nice observation.

I doubt it looks totally like CF. It's your eye's fooling you. Since it's just smoked you actually see the reflection from the inside chrome/reflectors thus giving a CF-look.

However, it still is smoked.

This is what a real CF Euro/Altezza looks like

It's not the best example i've found but it should give you an idea of how different they are.

Now, if only the tail assembly on the 2k2's was easy to work with

That doesn't really show the true carbon fiberness of the taillights

Again, because it's not CF. I've seen them up-close, it just like looking at angled reflectors through a smoked glass.

Calm down, I was only joking around. I know they're not carbon fiber; If they were don't you think that they'd be stolen at a more rapid rate

I know you were joking silly

Though you were right, the first photo didn't show the smoked SE lights' true colors

Yeah..I never said it WAS carbon fiber- but that it looked like it. The second pic there shows that there are some characteristics of CF in the lights.

Methinks if the smoke was a tad bit lighter it would look more like it... what do you think?
