Brake dust on the rear wheels??

I just realized that theres some brake dust that end up on the rear wheels. I never pull the parking brake while driving so how can this happen? im going to jack the rear up and spin the tires to check if the brakes are dragging. Is it normal for the rear wheels to build up brake dust?

well my rear wheels usually have almost no brake dust compared to the fronts. but I mean, there are brakes back there, and peds, and they do get activated when you press the brake pedal, so there should be some dusting. what i'm wondering is why theres always more dust on the front tires?

more stopping is done with the front as that is where all the weight is and therefore more power is needed...pushing harder and using more of the pads thus creating more dust? just a guess

Your guess is correct. When you brake, weight and energy is immediately transfered to the front of the car, therefore putting more stress on the front brake pads/rotors. That's why you see all of these cars with shiny rear wheels, but dirty and dusty fronts.

And brake dust still appears on the rear wheels, but not close to the extent of the fronts.
