I agree, although many people on this forum will deny it, I think a Max with a fully modified suspension (FSTB, RSB, springs, struts, possible RSTB) can outhandle a Bimmer.

Forget E-Bay. There are probably dozens of places in the greater Chicago area where you can get a good FSTB for less than $100.

Anything more than $100 and you're either paying for a "look" or buying a FSTB designed for serious road racing.

you forgot subframe connectors and polyurethane front sway bar bushings, end links and control arms... well, with all those you're handling much better than any stock BMW

i only have the FSTB.
now i'm thinking of buying either the RSTB or RSB.

i hear people say that the RSTB doesn't really do much. HOWEVER, the rear sway bar appears to be a big improvement.

should i get the RSTB or RSB?

please advise.
many thanks,

Get RSB.
It will make the car more stable thru turns.

I can't beleive how many of you think you can 'feel' a Front Strut Tower Brace. The power of the mind...

No i30, you won't feel it but heck, for $50 you'll sleep better. Go for it.

I really felt mine but how much others feel it depends on which model Max. I have a GLE which has a soft suspension. My front end didn't lean as much and felt much more stable especially when only one side of the car would hit a bump like a man-hole cover. The steering also felt heavier...more connected. If you have an SE you may not feel as big a big difference.

Why would you pay anywhere near $100 for a strut bar? I got a pretty good one from ebay for $30 + shipping, if i remember correctly.

I have a GLE too. I'm not trying to sound rude in anyway but I garauntee you that anything you (or anyone here) feel/felt is in your head.

How can you guarantee something like that? YOU may not have felt anything because there is something in your head (joke) but I most certainly felt it.

If you have one on, take it off for a while and go for a drive. Then put it back on and drive the same roads. You should feel it.

Too many people had good results with them so I'm sure it's not mass delirium or something...

I challenge anyone to have a friend randomly flip a coin and remove/install your FSTB while you are not looking. By driving the car around your favorite course, you state wether the FSTB is installed or not each run. If you get at least 8/10, I'll be extremely impressed and I will apologize. But I'm sure no one can. And if you are willing to come to S.D. and let me be 'the friend', I'll even bet you $100.

It's sutble but I felt a difference. Before in a long sweeping turn, I would have to constantly input steering correctings. After the need to row the steering wheel back and forth was reduced a bit. Not too much but noticable. Thing is, it would probably take someone who is pretty familar w/ your car to tell the difference. Hell if they didn't make a difference, why do they come on Q45s/Skylines as oem equipment? Also the Integra Type R I believe.

Too bad I'm in FL. If I was I S.D. I would take you up on that bet!! Easy money.

I know the way MY car handles intimately. I would probably be able to tell the difference just pulling out of my driveway.

Either way I sleep pretty good...

Peace

Those who push their car hard regularly will feel the difference, those who don't, won't... It's as easy as that... So if you drive at 15km/h down the road and go into a turn and say you feel a difference, you deserve a *****slap; however, if you drive at 150km/h down the road, and say you feel a difference, that is normal...
