wtf is going on

Ok, so my tranny (before the new one) made a weird grinding type noise. Opened it up, throwout bearing is broken along with the casing that the bearing sits on. Put in a used tranny but everything appears fine and i get the sound again. This is the sounds my tranny made before i got it fixed AND after i got it fixed, almost as if it's broken again. Here's the sound www.paylessfreight.com/bad tranny.mp3

the sound is made when the clutch is released and disappears when the clutch is pressed.

Does anyone know maybe if this sound now is just the throwout bearing breaking in? The clutch, throwout bearing, and pressure plate are new. I'm lost now. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

i found that the sound goes crazy when you turn to the left and move. found out it's not the throwout bearing so it has to be something inside the tranny. i guess i'm just taking it to a shop.

my tranny makes a grinding noise as well unless i have the clutch pushed in. when pushed in, the car sounds quiet, otherwise a constant grinding noise. my uncle has a transmission shop, but i havent had a chance to go. maybe i might go this saturday coming up. i'll let you know what he says.

i don't think it's the cv joint cause it makes the sounds while not moving. It almost sounds like it's a gear in there that is spinning constantly unless the clutch is in and is loose or something. I'm going to take it to a ship today to see what they say. Hopefully it's nothing too expensive.

Could be that the transmission has picked up some material from the busted bearing. Check the springs in the friction disc. Perhaps one is cracked or broken and is rattling around.
I don't know too much about the Maxima manual transmissions so I'mm assuming there setup is similiar to previous manuals I've owned.

Brent.

i don't think it can be that. I replaced everything inside the bellhousing. I replaced the throwout bearing, clutch, and pressure plate. I didn't get to take it in yesterday but will today because this is my last day of school before the summer and i'm going to get out early!!

ok, finally got it to the guy yesterday. he said that its some bearings inside the casing that are bad. when you have the clutch in there is nothing in there spinning therefor no sound but when the clutch is out, even in nuetral, there are gears in there spinning. so, if any of you guys have that problem, start looking for a new tranny. that sound means your bearing are bad and need to be reaplaced and when the tranny people go to replace stuff in there they usually want to replace everything making it a rebuilt tranny that will cost you around 700-900 dollars. i'm just going to go find a rebuilt for around 700 or less if i'm lucky and not screw with used anymore.
