I Have 95K On My 97 (Highway) With No Leaks, Should I Swich To Amsoil?????

I am coming up on an oil change interval and just got the car. It runs perfect and does not leak. Think I'd be ok with Amsoil?

I actually used to work for Pennzoil and we refrained from using synthetic in anything over 70K, this was 7 years ago...

Since my car is relatively newer and runs fine, I should be ok???

I've heard there is nothing wrong with switching. You may want to skip using any "cleansing" oils (I think they have some kind of treatment), because they could compromise your seals. I plan on switching in July...

You can switch to whatever synthetic you want whenever you want. It's stupid old fairy tale that you have to wait xxxx miles for the engine to break in. Porche's and corvettes come stock with Mobil 1 so I wouldn't worry about it.

The old problem of sythetic not "swelling the seals" is also largely BS.

Use the same viscosity and you'll be fine.

thanks for the enlightening info. but why do people use viscosity other than 5w30?

Mostly due to temperature variations. I live in Texas, so I'm running Amsoil 10W30 because of the heat. In colder areas you may find people running 0W30, but most still run 5W30.
