Someone keyed my car! =(
Someone keyed my car! =(
My Maxima's latest mod is a beautiful 2-foot long key scratch down the driver's side of the hood. It was absolutely free since it was given to me by a very generous person.
I'm furious right now. I walked out to my car from work yesterday and noticed the imperfection. I washed my car on Sunday and don't remember it being there, but I could be wrong. It looks like I'm gonna have to dip into my own pocket to get my hood painted.
I'm so mad right now. I feel like driving to a cliff and putting the car in "D" and jumping out and letting it roll off the side. Everytime I fix something, something else goes wrong. The CEL is still on ever since I installed the GReddy, my clearance light is broken, and now this. That's only to mention a few.
I hate jealous people. I work my @$$ off to pay for this car. I'm only in high school, and I work 25-30 hours a week and I still manage to maintain a 3.5 GPA. I'm very proud of being able to afford my own car and all the mods that I've done to it, and then some jealous piece of crap who probably is driving a '79 POS Oldsmobile has to go and do this.
Yea, so looks like I'll be making a trip to the body shop to get an estimate. It seems like I'm always fixing something on this car.
Sorry for venting,
-Nick
BTW, I'd just like to send out a special thank you to whoever did this. You really made my day. Do me a favor and go walk into oncoming traffic.

So you are telling me you wouldn't see a 24" key mark on your hood? I don't think so Nick... It definitely sounds like an act of jealosy, and I agree with Wope and think somebody from your school did it. Shouldn't insurance cover that as well? I really sympathize for you, if somebody keyed my car I'd key them.

Sorry to hear the news. I hate those people too. I have gotten to the point where I have accepted defeat. I am no longer concerned with the body of my car. I will still wash and wax it, but I will never again fix the paint or dents for the very reason you've mentioned. I go to college and soooo many a$$holes drag thier book bags, their fat a$$es w/ the rivets on thier jeans, etc. across my cars finish. Hate em all. So, I will only put money into making my car faster, so I can leave those people far behind. Again, sorry to hear it. At least you have a sense of humor about it. Just gotta figure someone is jealous.
I've reached the point where I don't even think I want this car anymore. I love it to death and I want to keep it, but deep down inside, there is a part of me that is saying "Just get rid of it."
Everytime I turn around, I'm fixing something. My hood and roof are all dinged up, my clearance light is broken, ever since I put the exhaust on, the CEL has been on, etc. Now this is just icing on the cake.
Modifying and working on my car is the only hobby I have. I'm a Junior in High School and I work 25-30 hours a week at my part time job just to pay for the car. I don't play any sports and I don't have that many friends. I hardly ever go out or anything. I basically spend all of my time at school, at work, or on Maxima.org.
When someone goes and does this, it ruins it. Other people say, "oh it's not noticable...don't worry about it." Well, to me it is noticable. Every time I walk out to my car, that's all I see. Maybe I'm being overly dramatic, but my car means a lot to me and now I just don't even care anymore and I wouldn't even care if it was gone.
Later,
-Nick

It sux
Sorry
But I don't think your Max has been screwing up on you. Your clearance lamp got broken when you worked on it, and the scratch is beyond your control. Dunno about the exhaust though.
The scratch could've happened to a POS even ... has the car been a bad car to you?

But, maybe this is some kind of 'sign' telling you not to have all your 'eggs' in one basket. It's great to work your butt off for something you really enjoy, but don't let it be the ONLY thing that brings you joy. You're young, man. Live and enjoy. Find some other hobbies/friends (more relaxing/less expensive, perhaps?). You'll find the time spent with the Max even more enjoyable when it's not your only outlet. Good luck.
I think you should sell it........and get a five speed like you've been wanting.
I agree with ds03. I'm a Jr. in HS too man. You've got your whole life to have a bada$$ car, well you already have one, but anyways. High school is supposedly the best time of our lives and you should live it to the fullest. We are only gonna be young for so long, so we might as well have some fun dont ya think? As much trouble as this car gives me sometimes, I just look at it and think damn, I've done pretty good for how much I've spent. I plan on driving this car through college, or until it dies(but i've only got 90k on it) and then most likely, I'll get a really nice car once I've got a job outta college.

Sorry to hear about that, Nick
If I were you, I'd seek revenge on whoever did that to your max and make them suffer for the rest of thier life, or you can have my buddy in my signature pic take care of them
Yea, if you make a car that big of a deal to you, you've got to be ready to take the reprocussions as they come to. Love-hate in many ways with a car. Only love-hate swing that's worse at the high school age is relationships
When I got into cars in high school, I finally got rid of my old 85 Accord SE-i and bought my own 91 Integra. I held it pretty high in my own little world, and I really wanted to bring it into a full-swing hobby. But I realized, I was in high school...and saw a lot of the goon fodder around me that got cars (all the way from cheap kid-type cars to regular family-type cars that you know had been passed down to them) and modded them out a lot because they didn't have to pay for things like the car/insurance/mods/repairs/etc...and I know the contempt some people hold for that crowd in general in the social environment of high school. If that's not enough, there's a lot of inner angst inside the "mod crowd" in high school...you know, my modded out civic is way better than your modded out neon, and I've got some spare time on my hands & feel like vandalism, so I'll mess with your crap...
With that taken into account, plus the fact that I was in high school and didn't have the biggest income/chance at income, I ended up making the decision that the gains for me (hobby, getting to know cars, having fun, etc) didn't add up to the possible negative things that could happen. I decided to wait until I was older when I had more time & money to get into cars a little deeper, and didn't have to worry about the guy in the Civic getting jealous and keying my prized possession.
I'm still waiting. Hopefully once I graduate from college and have more idle time at night, and have some more money to throw around, I'll get into cars a lot more in depth like I've always wanted to. Besides...just repairing things and fixing **** like the little love bump I magically received in a parking lot is enough for my wallet right now.

Sorry to hear about the a**holes who scratched up your car. I do think that whoever did it was some jerk at your school. I have a black max and everyday I notice a new scratch. The black paint on maximas is really shiny and nice to look at but as far as being durable, it absolutely sucks!! Don't worry about the scratch and worry about your CEL. I think that your rear O2 sensor is probably loose or just dead. Have it checked out. I hope you have better luck with your Max in the future!!

Thanks for all your comments guys. I had a good night sleep last night and I feel a lot better about things. I guess I just have to accept that there is always gonna be someone who is jealous of what I have. I'll probably end up having the hood painted when I go to get my body kit painted.
Later guys, and thanks again for all the support.

I saw the red-neck hill-billys drive away in their beat up red chevy pickup but didnt have time to catch up to them.
Mine was covered under my insurance, yours should be too, dont sweat it.
Has anyone considered buying touch-up paint from the dealership? I'm in the process of going to buy some since the ********s that painted my car a while back didn't use primer! Thus, the paint on my front bumper is peeling. My dad and I went to Pepboyz and Autozone and callled NAPA, yet none of them don't carry the exact color but the Courtesy Nissan dealership has them in slightly larger bottles than the Crescent City Nissan dealership back home. I'm in Dallas for the summer by the way. The touch-up paint comers in pen-like applicators. I'm thinking that may be a cheap alternative to painting the that whole section of the car since the color is an exact match.
On that note, I have a little story. I attend Xavier University, a historically black university in New Orleans, and the ratio of girls to boys is like 17 to 1. I'm serious. Anyway, there are a lot of sororities. Of course they usually have disagreements often over each others' man. So one day, as I was coming out from studying in the library at around 8 at night. I noticed that the 97 beige Toyota camry parked next to my Ruby red Maxima had "B****" keyed on the hood, and the sides of the car! I guess the female owner stole another girls man.
Several onlookers laughed as they saw the car. Just be glad your's didn't have a message.

Nick don't let that **** you off.. The car was defenseless and couldn't stop herself from getting keyed.. Just brush it off and move on... After a few days that i just bought the car, some retard backed into it pushing my grille into the car, breaking 2 brackets.. i had to make new ones and somehow stick it back into the right place, although there is still a gap when u come up close
I also found numerous scratches, like on my passanger side door, + mirror.. damn New York City drivers.
Don't let that drive you to sell the car.. I don't know what i'm doing with mine yet, but I might just keep it and run the auto tranny until it dies, then I'll convert.. since a rebuilt will cost me the price of a conversion. By then more and more conversion would have happened and I would have extra $ to play with.... Not saying you should do this.. just sharing

Being Keyed
Hey Nick,
First sorry about your car being keyed, second of all I know how you feel cause people have no respect for other people property.
I got my door scratched and ding by people who dont give a hoot about other people, keep kool, there is more to life than a car.
