More help with my ticking noise..

After my last thread about the ticking noise( Thread about Ticking Noise) ) , the local dealer I took it to has been of no help. Anyways, I noticed yesterday that the ticking noise is there only at idle. As soon as I switch the A/C on or rev the engine - it's goes away and comes back as soon as the the RPM's drop to idle. It's from somewhere near the side of the throttle body (the firewall side). After searching the forum, there was a lot of mention about the ICV (Idle control Valve?) and the EGR. Could it be any of these and it that is the case - is this an expensive repair and how crucial is it to get it fixed soon? I know I am asking a lot of questions, but please bear with me....

The only ticking noises I have ever hear from my 96 VQ Engine with 55K on it is from the Fuel Injectors...the little buggers really cricket out at idle. I think its a case of lower ambient engine noise at idle which allows you to hear em. Higher revs or A/C just drown the tickers out. Your ticking noise may not be your injectors...so take what I say with a grain of salt.

How many miles are on your car? It could be the exhaust valves. They start making ticking noises on engines with alot of miles. Mine does it, and the only remedy is to have the valves adjusted. If this is your problem that is! This does not affect performance.
