I went to a rice store to check out some bulbs for the Maxima. I was looking for headlight bulbs.

The store had a PIAA 9004 SuperWhite 65W for $120CDN (for a pair). The guy who worked in the store said they don't fit on 99 Maximas. Is he right?

By the way, this was a store in Pacific Mall in Toronto.

 

$120??! that's pretty expensive!

 

Actually they will fit 4th gens, which use 9004 headlight bulbs and H3 foglight bulbs. Maybe the salesman got the two confused.

I wouldn't mind buying of the internet but it will be expensive when it ships to Toronto. Also I've never actually bought anything online and feel pretty apprehnsive about it.

$70 is still a lot to pay for bulbs. A cheaper alternative to the PIAA SuperWhites are either the Sylvania CoolBlues or the Phillips BlueVisions. They are available at Pep Boys, Strauss Auto or AutoZone for about $30 a pair.

9006 bulbs are single filament bulbs that are usually used in lowbeam applications in conjunction with the 9005 bulb as highbeam.

 

Like my man said, 9004 is the bulb for the 4th gen Max. He may have been confused w/the 2000 Max which uses H4 for headlights I believe. 9006 is a single filament low beam bulb shaped the same as the dual filament 9004 bulb.
