Need an additional valet key for the maxima

I used my valet key for the remote start. Now I only have one key left. I would like to get another key but Nissan said it would be $150 due to some chip on the key that is needed to start the car. Is there any other alternative? Maybe another dealer can give me some kind of discount? Do I really need the key from Nissan to work? Thanks

You will need the key from Nissan. The have to program the card on the inside of the key and that is what makes it expensive, but $150 is bull crap. Mine was only 30 for the key and 45 to code it. And they paid for both of them b/c I got it when I got the car.

An AE key is only $70 at Courtesy Nissan... don't buy their's.

My dealer will program the cars security system to accept the key for free, at any time... maybe your's will too?

I got a regular Nissan key cut for my door locks. It will unlock the doors, open trunk and turn the ignition but won't start the car. Hardly a valet key (exact opposite, actually) but it's good to keep in my wallet (or my wife's purse) to open the doors if I accidentaly lock a key inside. It cost only $12 or so at the dealer.

I never thought of this. This would be a great key to leave in a lockbox under the car (I don't keep anything in my car of value anyway).
