$1,900 for a scratch, need new door.

Hi,
does anyone know where I could get a door for a 97. I have a small scratch and a couple dents and the damn body shop wants almost $2000 to fix. If anyone has replaced a door please give me some advice, I'm not too sure if this is possible and will cost only a couple hundred.
Thanks,
Paul

It seems rather high, but it depends on how severe and where those "couple of dents" are.

Get a second opinion.

Sounds like they are trying to scam you...
If the dents are small like door dings, a painting and dent removal shouldn't run much beyond $500 dollars.

If they are huge dents, then maybe they can't fix it so if you really do need a new door, $1900 sounds about right.

Thanks GTR. However, they dont have the rear right door which I need. The dent isn't too small but its not huge. I scratched it when pulling out of covered parking. Also what is a door skin and will it fix my problem cause it's only $60 which would be great. Also to the person that said they saw some on the junk yard, can you please tell me where this was located, if I can't find it here I will call them and maybe they can ship it.
Thanks,
Paul

Any one know if installing the skin is complicated or how much a body shop would charge? I really want to get this scratch fixed and sont want to pay 1900. I have found a local body shop that will do it for $650 but they seem a little crappy, if I can't find a way around this I guess I will have to go with them.
Thanks,
Paul
