Raced a Chevy Camaro IROC...
I came to a red light and lined up with him. I wasn't even planning on racing. I revved the engine to about 2.5k rpms and as the light turned green I launched at about 3k rpms spinning my tires as they hooked up at about 6k rpms. By now he was right next to my back door. By the end of second he was on my back bumper and he shut it down for some reason. I don't know what year he was or if he was auto or manual, but I heard the 1-2 shift churp.
Peace.
Peace.

my favorites
wayyy OT, but my favorite...
"my tires broke lose but there was no way I was going to loose to that car"
it's not an exact quote but it's close enough. If you have any spelling/grammar skills (skilz?) it's difficult to read about 1/4 of the stuff posted in any web board.

There were two types of IROC CAMAROS. There was the 305 cubic inch IROC and the 350 cubic inch IROC. The 305 (tuned port injection) had 215-225hp depending on year. They were available with either a 5 speed (T5) or auto (700R4). They were good for low to mid 15s at around 90mph. The 350 TPI was good for 235-245hp depending on year and they only came with autos. The 350s had a huge 340 ft/lbs torque. Apparently there were about 200 IROC 350s that did come with 5 speeds, but they were very special order, didn't have AC/radio/power anything, had the high performance 1LE suspension, and nearly all went into road/autocross racing. The 350 IROC autos were good for mid 14s on average. Both these cars, regardless of tranny, can easily chirp the tires on the 1-2 shift.
I'm assuming he raced a 305 Iroc because a Maxima isn't going to out launch a 350 IROC especially when the Maxima is spinning the tires like he said he did thru first. I know that when I spin my tires pretty hard thru 1st, I'm starring at a lower 15-second timeslip.

Dave B. thanks for the info.
PS. Who cares about spelling Camaro right? As long as people get the point. I don't have a need to impress anybody here with my grammar and education, and I'm sure that nobody would even care. And what does spelling CAMARO correctly have to do with education man?
Peace.

All I know is my brother has a 86 Camaro Z26 with a crate 350 ZZ4 motor in it and 4.11 richmond gears(also alot more). Nothing on the road touches him when he takes it out. He recently ran a 12.2 at english town a few months ago and is pushing about 600HP I believe. He is NA and I have a SC and I know that I dont have a chance against him. So if you see a blue camaro with a 4in cal-hood in CT I wouldnt bother racing him
