Just installed my Place Racing cold air kit this weekend. It took me about three hours, cause I had to run out and buy a few more parts. WOW! This thing sounds awesome. After 3000 RPMs the intake growls like a V8. I can still drive it normally without much noise difference. I can see and feel the power difference, mostly in first gear. Before if I floored it (automatic) my RPMs would shoot up and then I would get power to the wheels. Now it feels like I get the power sooner and my car stays in first gear longer.

I bought the kit used for $120 (shipped) and it was just recently powdercoated black, so it matches the engine. I think that it was the pop adapter kit, because it came with a massive filter, just like the one on the stillen intake. I had to cut a hole in the fender and drill four holes to sandwitch the lower pipe to the metal doughnut that the filter attached too. Not sure which kit it is, but either way...it sounds and feels great. I love it!

Also, I wanted to thank Cheston and Brian Won for the great directions on how to install the intake.
Thanks to Julian too for selling me the intake for such a great price.

What year is your Max? and do you notice a difference with acceleration? Like drastic improvement? I also have a Max Auto, and I hadn't heard many people with Max Auto's get CAIs. thanks!

absolutely....my only power mod is the CAI and ive noticed stronger pull when accelerating and when at cruise speed...if i need to gun it...it kicks in faster and pulls nicely...

i have an auto as well...i think many people with autos have CAI's and for what its worth most of the S/C guys are auto's also....

like i said the CAI is my only power mod...i don't think i get the full affect overall of its performance since i still have that nice restrictive stock exhaust (bye bye to it this winter )....ill stop b4 i keep rambling...

I am glad that it worked out for you >>>>>

and that you are enjoying it. Now if only I can find a used CAI for myself that will fit a 95-96 Maxima. Good Luck !!!!

I have a 1997 SE auto maxima. I only have the CAI and PIAA superwhites, just got the car in June. So I can say that the CAI has made a noticable difference. It accelerates faster because I get the power to the wheels at lower RPMs and so I hold the gear longer. I think that it is a great modification for the maxima and highly recommend it. if you need any more info, just ask.
