NIssan Focus Groups For 2004 Max

Has anyone in this forum been approached by Nissan to give feedback or input on what they would like to see in the upcoming 6th Gen Max?
If Nissan is listening - Lets tell them now.

My 2 cents - Please consider keeping the same dimensions - dont turn the max into a luxo-barge, ala lincoln towncar. Bigger brakes for sure and re-design the shifter(linkage ala 91 SE-R).
Have a purely performance model with real mods( More HP,bigger brakes, sway bars, stiffer shocks and springs) - not just spoilers and titanium colored gauges. Better paint process.

Do Nissan people read from this forum??? They oughtta......

Re: NIssan Focus Groups For 2004 Max

It's wishful thinking, especially considering the reason they moved the Altima up one notch in class is to allow the Max to compete higher up the food chain (e.g. Avalon)

But it's definitely something i'd like to see myself.

1. Better Paint, extra coats if neccessary.

2. Better glass quality

3. Telescoping steering wheel like the Altima

4. Adjustable pedals

5. Better stereo, scrap the Bose (sound quality and volume not worthy
of a $30,000 car)

6. Make the interior lights come on when the key is removed from the ignition or when opening doors

7. Better leather seats with more hip support

8. More horsepower, it should be faster than the Altima

I'm not picky, just want:

1. AWD (but get rid of the 4x4 look)
2. Lot's of power, maybe 300+
3. Better stock handling
4. Keep it under $30K (ok maybe wishful thinking)

Yes, and this will be the first Max design completely under the control of Ghosn and Renault.

Be afraid...

According to Edmunds, it's going to retain the FWD platform or possibly AWD, so HP will probably top out at 280-300...

I'm disspappointed that they're not going RWD and keep the price starting under 30K. FWD will start under 30K, but AWD is going to start most likely around 35K, and top off over 40K...

I'd end up getting the redesigned 5-series BMW for that price.

- More hp
- Less wheel gap (Altima 3.5 SE wheelgap is fine)
- Less body roll...at least on GLE.
- 'Theater dimming' interior lights
- fuzzy pillars like 3rd gens and early 4ths
- smaller steering wheel.

I'm referring to the dome and reading lights, which do not come on in my 2002. Those lights beneath the doors come on, but I believe they should all illuminate for a brief period.

Check your switch on the dome lite, there is a position on it to get the light to come on when the door opens. And the 2k2's already have the theater dimming lights in them, and the radio even turns on gradually too.

yes, "nissan people" do read the forum.
i met a guy from cali. in my store (QFC) and he was wearing a white nissan jacket, so as always i asked, turns out he wasnt only a driver, but an employee, i forget his position but he gets a new car every 2 weeks or so and has driven the new Z and G35. i asked him if hes heard of the forum and he said yes, i just said, cool, im an active participant on it.

later

If that's true than the 2k3 might be the last of the "real" Maxima's.

The upcoming Murono SUV will be based on the Altima platform as well. Most of the options available on the Murano will also be available on the 6th Gen Maxima.

The Murano will have Memory Seat/Mirrors/Steering wheel so you can be rest assured the '04 will Max will have those options as well.

Since the Murano will have an AWD option I would assume that the Max will eventually. Maybe not the first year of introduction however.

Watch out man. You're playing with fire. The mods have issued a gag rule on the G35 and 350Z because of all the whiners on this board.

Another thing to consider is better size rims and tires. The 225/50/17 size is a pain in the **** as we don't have a very good selection with those numbers.
